New members inducted into local Zeta Amicae group SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Jackie McCoy, Victoria , Roseboro, Louise Ross, Vanessa Vinson, Sharon Barren, Alfreda Clawson, Stephanie Goodson, Betty Turner, Azalee Vinson and the late Rhonda Gant have been inducted into the Zeta Amicae of Winston-Salem. Amicae, which means friend, serves as an auxiliary to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. The purpose of the group is to support Zeta Phi Beta chapters. Zeta Amicae con ducts separate community service projects and joint projects with its sponsoring chapter, Rho Zeta. Greater Galilee W-S ce lebrates ftrst-arm i versary SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Greater Galilee Winston Salem, which meets at Southside Baptist Church (401 E. Sprague St.), celebrated its first anniversary on Feb. 5 with a celebration that also drew members of Southside and Greater Galilee Charlotte. Pastor Robert L. McGowens, who leads both the Winston Salem and Charlotte churches, led the service, which included remarks from City Council Member James Taylor of the Southeast Ward and Deacon Bill Board of Southside Baptist Church. Both men encouraged the members of Greater Galilee Winston-Salem and Southside Baptist to continuing working together on programs and initiatives that benefit the entire community. Winston-Salem State University Students Delante Hatchett and Michael i Council Member Taylor Wood, members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, made a special pres entation to the church. After the service, visitors had the opportunity to tour the facility, as well as enjoy food and fel lowship. Greater Galilee has grown its ministries over the last year. Outreach ministry programs include regular nursing home visitations, collection and delivery of food, supporting the Samaritan Ministry and door to door evangelism. GGBCWS provides members with a nursery as well as class es for the youth, teens, college students and adults that are held before Saturday Service and on Tuesday nights.
