Students compete in Rotary oratorical contest SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Rotary District 7690 held its annual Rotary Against Drugs High School Speech Contest at Guilford Technical Community College in Jamestown on Saturday, Feb. 26. Students presented speeches aimed at convincing their fellow students to avoid drugs and alcohol abtfSC. The students had advanced to the district competition by competing at their local high schools. The District competition drew 14 students. The winners were: ? Kevin Littlejohn, first place, Dudley High School, sponsored by the Rotary Club of East Greensboro. ? Essence Lytch, second place, Western Guilford High School, spon sored by Guilford Rotary Club. ? Marquis Hackett, third place, Southern Lee High School, sponsored by Sanford Rotary Club. ? Nathaniel Peterkin, fourth place. Pinecrest High School, sponsored by Southern Pines Rotary Club. ? Reba Everhart, fifth place, Wesleyan Academy, sponsored by High Point Rotary Club. The top three finalists are eligible to advance to the Multi-District Competition to be held in Chapel Hill on Sunday, March 20.
