Two to give initial sermons SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE An invitation is extended to the communi ty to join Dr. Sir Walter Mack Jr. and the Union Baptist Church family on Sunday. March 30 for the initial sermons of Deacon Randy Brown and Stephen Stover. Stover, a sophomore who attends a private Christian academy, will preach at 8:30 a.m. He is the son of Stephen and Glenda Stover. Stover excels academ ically in all of his subjects and is a longtime honor student. Family and Friends Day The Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 1905 N. Beginning March 31 Spring Revival Steward's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 918 Anderson Road in Rural Hall, will hold its Spring Revival from Monday, March 31 - Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m. nightly. The revivalist for the week will be the Rev. Dr. Calvin L. Miller, presid ing elder of the Winston Salem District. Rev. Eddie L. Fortson is the host pastor. The public is invited to attend. March 31 District meeting St. James A.M.E. Church, 1501 N. Patterson Ave., will host a District Leadership gathering of the WNCC Western District on Monday, March 31 at 10 a.m. During this meeting, the Planning Committee will organize the under the leadership of Master Woo Sup Kim of Tiger Kim's World Class Tae Kwon Do School since the age of seven. He has his second-degree black belt and is working toward his third-degree Episcopal District Mid Year Conference, which is scheduled for Nov. 6 - 8. Beginning April 2 Lenten Revival St. John CME Church, 350 NW Crawford Place, will con tinue its Lenten Revival through April 23. Services will be held each Wednesday at 7 p.m. A fellowship meal will be served from 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. St. Paul UMC pastor Donald Jenkins spoke last night. Galilee Baptist Church Pastor Nathan Scovens will speak on April 2. United Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Pastor Prince Rivers will speak on April 9, while the April 16 speaker will be Reynolds Temple CME Pastor Angela Brown. The last speaker on April 23 will be St. James AME Church Pastor Steven Lyons. Noontime servic es will also be held, and a Sunday service will be held at 5 p.m. April 5 Prayer walk River To The Nations Ministries will host a North Dunleith Avenue Prayer Walk on Saturday, April 5. It will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of North Dunleith Avenue and East Third Street and is open to all believers. The prayer walk has a goal of praying for revival and city-wide transformation. April 12 Food and justice event Pastors and church leaders are cordially invited to attend "Churches Working Together: A Food Justice Event" on Saturday. April 12 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the lower auditorium in Wingate Hall on the campus of Wake Forest University School of Divinity. The purpose of this event is to bring pas tors and church leaders together to engage in conversation about food justice issues. Presenters will include Rev. Charolette Leach of Morning Star Baptist Church. Marty and Ben Tennille of H O PE (Help Our People Eat) and Tamica Patterson of Rebecca's Store. There is no cost for this event. Stover is a volunteer at Samaritan Ministries, Arts Based Elementary School, where he is a reading buddy, and has been active in ministry for eight years. A drummer for Otesha Church Chancel Choir will render John W. Peterson's "The Glory of Easter" cantata on Sunday, April 13 at 4 p.m. The guest director will be Rudolph V. Boone Sr. Y. Willette Anthony is the choir's director; Terry Kelly is the pianist; and Dr. Marion "Pete" Thomas is the organist. Rev. Dr. Paul A. April 27 Ford anniversary The Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 4707 Cherry St., will celebrate the first anniversary of Pastor Ernest L.
