SENA's Community Day and Job Fair SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE The Southeast Neighborhood Association (SENA) is hosting its Second Annual Community Day and Job Fair on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Enterprise Conference and Banquet Center, 1922 South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. It promises to be a lively event that will bring busi nesses, agencies and res luenis togetner to pro mote cross-cultural unity and to share infor mation about available resources. Geared toward putting the "u" back in community, the family-oriented, fun ftlled day is organized and supported by neigh bors and friends work ing to expand the bor ders of southeast neiph- ? 0-. borhoods. Food, music and games are on tap. More than 20 busi nesses and nonprofit agencies will be there to provide information and resources about all kinds of services and programs, and several companies will be accepting resumes. IN MEMORIAM HINTON Bishop James Lee Hinton, was born April 4, 1933 to the late Charlie and Katie Hinton. He was a native of Rnrtu Mount, N.C. and graduated a s Valedictorian of his class from Broughton High School of Wake County Public School System. B i s h o d James Lee Hinton was a longtime and dedicated employee of National School Supply and Salvation Army of Raleigh, N.C., where he successfully counseled and provided support to homeless men and women within the pro grams offered. Bishop Hinton pro vided leadership and direction to those in need of guidance. He served as a Career Counselor with Goodwill Industries and later retired from Sam's Club. Bishop James Lee Hinton entered into the ministry under the aus pices of Pentecostal International Church of Raleigh, N.C. under the leadership of Bishop C. E. Cooke where he served as Associate Minister, President of the Male Chorus, Sunday School Teacher and leader of noon day prayer. Bishop James Lee Hinton served until he was called to pastor at Branch Street International Ministries of Benson, N.C. He served there faithfully and was given the vision of Touch Somebody's Life Ministries which incUided a radio broad cast, located in Winston Salem. Through the years. Bishop James Lee Hinton worked with and developed fellowship with churches of various faiths throughout the state of North Carolina including Power House Church of Christ (Wiinston-Salem, N.C.). Bishop Hinton and Evangelist Hinton evan gelized throughout the country with special con \,viui aiiwu 111 Prison and Marriage Ministry. In his later years he served as Pastor of Open Door Holiness Church while contin uing to pas tor Touch Somebody's Life Ministries. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife. Evangelist Velma L. Hinton of the home; his children Cathy (Jerry) Williams, Greensboro, N.C.; Elder Elizabeth M. Hinton, Raleigh, N.C.; Deacon Robert C. Hinton, Knightdale, N.C.; Carolyn Pelzer. Winston-Salem, N.C.; Deacon Ronnie (Blondell) Robinson, Dumfries, V.A.; James Robinson, Richard Neal, Alma Jean McQueen and Ann Robinson who pre ceded Bishop Hinton in death. Three generations oi granacnuaren ana a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. As well as a special aunt. Bertha Brown, Rocky Mount, N.C. and a "brother" Herbert Anderson, Raleigh, N.C. Bishop Hinton was most noted for his sense of humor, his compas sionate demeanor and his positive attitude. In sick ness and in health, with out complaint Bishop Hinton continued to be faithful to the call of ministry and kingdom building. On Monday, Sept. 22 Bishop Hinton heard the heavenly choir singing his song, "Some glad morning when this life is over: I'll Fly Away! We celebrate his transition from labor to reward. Atkins High School Class of 1969 celebrated its 45th class reunion Sept. 12 - 14 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Activities included a meet and greet, golf, a pool party, a dinner/dance and a closing Sunday School taught by class mates Rev. Otto Gaither, Rev. William Hairston Jr. and Bishop James Marshall.
