If you like to browse among craft booths, sample an array of foods, and enjoy a variety of music, then fall is definitely the season for you! Festivals celebrate all kinds of foods, such as yams, apples, barbecue, oysters and seafood, as well as activities, such as hot-air balloons and NASCAR. Festivals offer great day trips, as well as weekend excursions to the mountains or the beach. Here are just a few of the offerings this month: October 3-5: 28th Annual NC Seafood Festival, Morehead City. This festival provides the opportunity for people to enjoy seafood at its finest! Food booths offer an array of delicious seafood specialties. There is also a variety of musical entertainment with Colt Ford as the featured headliner. October 10 - 11: Eastern Carolina BBQ Throw Down & Festival, Rocky Mount. This is an official North Carolina State Barbecue Championship, and a Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) sanctioned competition. October 10 - 12: Oktoberfest, Hickory. This festival brings 100,000 people to Downtown Hickory for a juried craft show, "KidsFest," ethnic crafts, rides and games.
