NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE WINSTON-SALEM CITY COUNCIL ON PETITIONS FOR ZONING CHANGES N0TICE4S HEREBY GIVEN, pur suant to the requirements of Article 19 of Chapter 160A of the General Statutes of North Carolina, that the City Council of the City of Winston Salem will hold a public hearing in the Council Chamber at City Hall, Room 230, 101 N. Main Street, Win ston-Salem, NC at 7:00 p.m. on Feb ruary 2, 2015 on the following proposed amendment to the Official Zoning Map of the City of Winston Salem, North Carolina: 1, Petition of Buel Barker Jr., Vickie Barker, and the William Beam Revo cable Trust to amend and change from GI to GO, the zoning classifica tion and Official Zoning Map of the property located on the east side of Ivy Avenue, south of Northwest Boulevard; property consists of ?3.1 acres and is PIN #s 6836-40-1617 and 1900 as shown on the Forsyth County Tax Maps - Zoning Docket W-3247. All parties in interest and citizens are invited to attend said hearing at which time they shall have an opportunity to be heard in favor of or in opposition to the foregoing proposed changes. During the public hearing the City Council may hear other proposals to amend the zoning of the above-de scribed property or any portion thereof. At the end of the public hear ing, the City Council may continue the matter, deny the proposed rezon ing, in whole or in part, grant the pro posed rezoning, in whole or in part, or rezone the above-described prop erty or any portion thereof to some other zoning classification. Advertise with us ~ Call 722-8624 1 m STATEMENT OF RESULTS OF SPECIAL BOND REFERENDUM ON THE BOND ORDER AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $42,350,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION STREET AND SIDEWALK BONDS, HELD FOR THE CITY OF WINSTON-SALEM, NORTH CAROLINA, ON NOVEMBER 4,2014 WHEREAS, by direction of the City Council (the "City Council") of the City of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a spe cial bond referendum was duly called and held for said City on November 4, 2014, for the purpose of submitting to the quali fied voters of said City the question here inafter set forth, and said City Council has received from the Forsyth County Board of Elections, a certification of the results of said referendum, and has determined the result of said referendum to be as here inafter stated. The total number of voters who voted "No" in answer to such ques tion was 18,552. The question in the form submitted was approved by the affirmative vote of a majority of those who voted thereon at said referendum. Eastern Stars donate to Ashley SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE On Wednesday, Jan. 21, members of Sisters of Bivouac Chapter #530 Order of the Eastern Star, PHA, made a donation to Ashley IB Elementary Magnet School. They took a 32-gallon container filled with gloves, hats and socks to the school to present to Alicia Bailey, the school's assistant princi pal, and Principal Mark Hairston.The school counselor will distribute the items as needed to students. The chapter's goal was to try to keep stu dents warm and healthy during these cold months of winter. The chapter is led by Worthy Matron Lisa W. Smith, whose mission remains to find ways to positively impact and change the lives of people in the community. Deltas celebrate Founders Day SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. recently cele brated 102 years of public service. This organization was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 13, 1913. The Winston-Salem Alumnae Chapter's Founders Day and Physical and Mental Health com mittees and Pi Omicron Chapter at Wake Forest University marked the occasion on Tuesday, Jan. 13 by walking 22 laps (one for each Delta Sigma Theta founder) around the track at Hanes Hosiery Recreation Center. After the walk, the members continued their fellowship over a healthy meal, shar ing initiation stories and exchanging steps. The Founders envi sioned a sorority focused on eliminating barriers to academic excellence, improving economics, and improving the political and social well-being of then people. This vision contin ues through the Sorority's Five Point Programs: Educational Development, Economic Development, International Awareness and Involvement. Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Social Involvement. Today, there are more than 1,000 Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Chapters and more than 200,000 mem bers.
