FROM THE FIRST HOSPITAL TO A LASTING LEGACY In 1899 our founder, S.G. Atkins, established the first hospital for African Americans in Forsyth County. The hospital served the needs of the community while providing on-site training for the schools nursing program. We celebrate our proud history of caring and our commitment to serving our community with the Health On Wheels mobile health clinic and our Center of Excellence for the Elimination of Health Disparities. Today, our legacy of health sciences education extends to graduate programs in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Counseling, Physical Therapy and Healthcare Administration and doctorate program in Nursing Practice and Physical Therapy.
