Gentleman's Quorum provides meal
for Homeless Overflow Shelter
SPECIAL TO
THE CHRONICLE
In an effort to reach out
to the community, mem
bers of the Gentleman's
Quorum Inc. at Elementary
School Academy recently
provided a meal for the
Homeless Overflow
Shelter. Sam Davis, co
founder of the organiza
tion, was joined by Jahaun
King and Stefano Buffert
in presenting the meal to
feed 20 homeless men on
Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the
shelter, on Oak Street.
The meal consisted of
baked spaghetti, corn and
green beans. Gentleman's
Quorum members pre
pared the meal at Davis'
home and then transported
it to the shelter. The group
got the idea from Kimberly
Hinton-Robinson, who
posted a request on her
Facebook page. Members
of GQ responded.
"We wanted to do
something to help people
who are less fortunate than
ourselves," said King, a
fifth-grader at Elementary
School Academy who
serves as the president of
the organization. "On a
cold day like today, I'm
sure many of the people
there are happy to receive a
hot meal."
Bufifert, the vice presi
dent, said he has learned
many positive things since
becoming a member of
Gentleman's Quorum.
"I have learned so
much about being a good
citizen," he said.
"Citizenship is one of our
core principals, and what
we did in making the food
is one way we can help our
community. It made me
feel good about myself to
help other people. I am
very thankful to be a part of
an organization like
Gentleman's Quorum."
Gentleman's Quorum
was established in
September 2013 by Davis
and Elliot Miley.
It was incorporated in
July 2014 and has applied
for tax-exempt 501 (c) 3
status. Miley said the
organization is reaching
out to other elementary and
middle schools in Forsyth
County to establish chap
ters.
