Piedmont Opera sets cast party for 'The Magic Flute' CHRONICLE STAFF REPORT "The Magic Bute" will be pre sented on March 13,15 and 17 at the Stevens Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The Piedmont Opera will hold a Meet the Cast Party in the student lounge at The Reaves Center, Winston-Salem Sate University, 601 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. WSSU is one of Piedmont Opera's education partners. The event will be 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8. The event will feature appetizers with select cast members and a behind the-scenes look at the making of Mozart's last opera. Tickets are $35 and are on sale now at PiedmontOpera.org or at 336 725-7101. One of the cast members is Brittany Robinson. Hailed by the South Florida Classical for her "luminous tones" and "lush voice", soprano Brittany Renee Robinson made her Florida Grand Opera main stage debut as Musetta in "La Bohfcme" in 2012, previously participating in the young artists program as Zerlina in "Don Giovanni," Yvette in "La Rondine," and the Page in "Rigoletto." Last sea r son she debuted the title role of Lakmd with Opera Theatre of the Rockies, and Tetania in Britten's "Midsummer Night's Dream" with Opera on the Avalon. This season she will be fea tured as the Soprano Soloist in "Haydn's Creation" with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, as well as return to the role of the Queen of the Night with Piedmont Opera's production of "The Magic Bute." Robinson has performed with such companies as Chautauqua Opera, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, Crested Butte Music Festival, Light Opera of New York, Sounds of South Dakota, Bay Area Summer Opera Theatre Institute (BASOTI).The American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS), Peabody Opera, and the Baltimore Municipal Opera. Other career highlights for Robinson include the Queen of the Night, (with the legendary Samuel Ramey as Sarastro) and Pamina in "Die Zauberflote," Adele in "Die Fledermaus," Blondchen in' "Die Entfiihrung aus dem Serail", Lucia in "Lucia di Lammermoor," Sr. Constance in "Dialogues des Carmelites," Cleopatra in "Guilio Cesare," Olympia & Antonia in "The Tales of Hoffmann," Alice Ford in ine Merry wives 01 Windsor, and Mrs. Nordstrom in "A Little Night Music."
