Event
The KingsKings
Project is hosting a birth
day event on May 15 at
8:30 p.m., sponsored by
Club Secrets on 825
Northwest Boulevard in

nership is to take away
some negativity geared
towards the club scene and
to inform the community of
all of the positive contribu
tions this club has and is
making throughout the

also fundraising for chil
dren who have incarcerated

Bertoni named Presidential Scholar
Margaret Bertoni, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Alain
Bertoni, was named a 2015 US Presidential Scholar. (See
media release below.) Prior to attending the North
Carolina School of Science and Math, she was a student at
Atkins A&T High School, Hanes Magnet Middle School,
and The Downtown School. Ms. Bertoni is also a National
Achievement and National Merit Scholar. She will attend
the Massachusettes Institute of Technology and major in
Engineering.
Richardson scholarship recipient
Jalin Richardson, a senior at r
Carver High School, has been select
ed as the 2015 recipient of the Bruce
Shelton Memorial Scholarship.
Richardson competed with eight
other seniors in the Winston
Salem/Forsyth County School
System for the scholarship, valued at
four thousand dollars. Richardson is
the captain of the baseball team at .
Carver, where he pitches and plays
shortstop. He was also a starter for
the Yellow Jackets football team and played in the defen
sive backfield. Richardson serves as Vice President of the
Student Government Association at Carver and is also
active in the Robotics Club. He attends St. Peters Church
& World Outreach Center in Winston-Salem and has vol
unteered as a tutor to children who attend church there.
Richardson plans to attend North Carolina A&T State
University in the fall and major.in engineering. He is the
son of Samuel and Chemika Richardson of Lewisville.
Richardson
Merit scholar recipients
Corinne N. Spencer of RJ. Reynolds High School,
and Kathryn L. Watkins of West Forsyth High School,
won National Merit Scholarships worth $2,500. Spencer's
probable career field is biology, while Watkins' probable
career field is medicine. The two students were part of a
group of about 2,500 students who won the scholarships.
They were chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 final
ists. Both students also take classes at the Career Center.
