The theme for this year
was "A Praying Mother."

was for 25 years.
"But God ..." she
said. "Have you ever been
in a 'But God' situation? .
Has He ever brought you I

not ashamed to call on His
name."

(WFRC) honored the works of Mr.
Nigel D. Alston during the 5th Annual
Children's Champion Luncheon, on
April 14, 2015 at the Forsyth Country
Club.
Growing in popularity and in size,
this event spotlights the importance of
high quality child care and recognizes
local doers and thinkers committed to
improving the lives of children and
families in our area. Alston joined the
elite circle of "champs" as the 2015
Donna Lambeth Children's Champion
Award recipient. Nigel is no stranger
to our community. He is a native of
Winston-Salem, a graduate of
Livingstone College, a member of
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and an
active community leader. He serves as
a motivational speaker, trainer, a
columnist and serves on numerous
boards and council throughout the
Piedmont Triad area. In fact, he played
an instrumental role as one of the
founding board member of Work
Family Resource Center nearly 25
years ago.
Before the audience of educators,
organizational leaders, clergy mem
bers, family, and friends Alston
humbly accepted the WFRC Donna
Lamheth Children's Champion Award
and shared his perspective on
resources, friends, and hope. He noted,
. .at the end of the day, money comes
and goes, friends come and go, but
without hope we have nothing." He
encouraged event goers to give know
ing that hope lies in the future of our
children. Former Executive Director,
Donna Lambeth, partnered with
Katura Jackson, present-day Executive
Director, in officially acknowledging
Mr. Alston for his deep commit
ment to serving children, families, and
connecting with people for the greater
good of our community. Additional
