Greetings from the Office of the Mayor!
Welcome to the 2015 National Black Theatre Festival! We are grateful
that Wiaston-Salem is home to the festival. It is most certainly a privilege
that we arc able to host this momentous event and what it represents
in being a beacon for perfonning arts. Known as the City of th Arts.
Winston-Salem embraces the National Black Theatre Festival as it
continues to influence creativity through the arts here and abroad.
We believe that art in all its expressions is important to developing creativity and unity in our
community. Winston-Salem has shown a dedication to the arts by being home to the first
locally established arts council; The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
The many performances and events would not be made possible without the great work
of Mrs. Sylvia Sprinkle Hamlin, the National Black Theatre Festival Board of Directors,
and the many volunteers. Wc hope that you have an enriching and wonderful experience
i during the festival.
