GREENLEE FOR THE CHRONICLE Lexington, the No. 5 seed, is buzzing with excitement and antic ipation about playing in this year's tournament. The Yellow Jackets have the requisite personnel to play an up-tempo brand of basketball. Because of their overall speed and quickness, they are relentless in running the floor on the fast break and applving constant defensive pressure from baseline to baseline. Sophomores Saafir Craven, Holt Biesecker and Nasheed Peoples are the acknowledged ringleaders. But those three aren't the end-all and be-all for this team. They get ample assistance from a supporting cast that's deep, versatile and tenacious on the court. Jayron Roberts, David Banner, Myles Crosby and Malachi Cobbs are among several contributors who come off the Yellow Jackets bench to provide an offensive spark and play stifling defense. A big part of Lexington's game plan is to maximize its depth. It's not unusual for first-year coach Dwayne Tate to play 10 or more players every game. The cumula tive effect of the Yellow Jackets withering pace, combined with hav ing fresh bodies on the floor at all times, tends to wear down oppo nents over the course of a game. There's no denying that this team is at its best in and up-and-down, free flowing kind of game. What remains to be seen is whether or not the Yellow Jackets can be as suc cessful if they're forced to play at a slower tempo.
