GREENLEE FOR THE CHRONICLE North Forsyth has the ingredi ents to make a strong tournament run. Whether the Vikings can make it to the championship round remains to be seen. Although North Forsyth lost its first three games, the outcome in two of those contests [South Stokes and East Forsyth] could've been different. A slow start, however, doesn't mean the Vikings are des tined to struggle. Last season, North Forsyth was 5-5 in early January, but went 10-1 the rest of the way to finish up at 15-6. "In this city and county, the bas ketball competition is tough," said coach Jefferey Moore of North Forsyth. "We didn't have a winning record against city-county teams, but we still had a very good year in conference [Mid-Piecimontj. Our early-season schedule prepared us." Leading the way for the Vikings are Nairn Evans and Jordan Oakes. Evans is the chief ball-handler who's crafty enough to create shots for himself and others. Oakes has emerged as a scoring threat from 3 point distance. Aside from Evans and Oakes, the Vikings get meaningful contri butions from Dawoud Evans, Marquan Matthews and Richard Ryce. To perform up to its potential, it's crucial that North Forsyth make good decisions in the fourth quarter of ball games. That was never more evident than in the narrow loss to East Forsyth. The Vikings led by eight points with less than five min utes to play, but ended up losing 54 46. "We rushed too many shots and gave up too many rebounds," said Moore. "On the plus side, we have speed and length. We'll make the most of what we have as the season continues."
