Gallery at Delta Arts
Center. The new space,
carved from Delta Arts
Center's renovated lobby
area, will run concurrently
with the regular exhibition
schedule inside the
Center's 1400 sq. ft main

gallery from September
2016 thru June 2017. The
People's Gallery will fea
ture five yearly exhibitions
with dynamic new pro
gramming designed to spur
dialogue and camaraderie
among citizens, using art as
a vehicle for observation
and discovery. This sea
son's installations will
reflect regional artists'
interpretations around the
themes of race, class, and
power. The intention is to
provide an additional plat
form for arts activists look
ing to create awareness
around complex issues in
the community. The
People's Gallery inaugural
installation will feature
works by local photogra
pher Owens Daniels from
his series titled, Black Poet.
Delta Arts Center is located

Twin City Stage announces interim costume
shop manager
Twin City Stage (TCS) has announced Jeannette
Brown as its Interim Costume Shop Manager. She
has taken over this part of the position vacated by
Justin Hall, who recently accepted a post in the
Costume Department at Averett University in
Virginia. Brown will also serve as costume designer
for TCS's first production of the season. Little
Women: The Musical. The remaining shows of the
theatre company's season will be assigned to guest
costume designers. Jeannette Brown is a Winston
Salem native, and R. J. Reynolds High school grad.
Brown has a degree in history/classical civilization
from the University of Richmond. She most recently
has been the costume designer of several shows with
Spring Theatre, including "Guys and Dolls, Jr.,"
"Mulan, Jr.," and "Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr."
The costume shop offers costume rentals to individu
als, groups and theatre companies. Halloween rentals
will begin Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Even though the impact of Tropical Storm
Hermine was minimal in Winston-Salem, Wake
Forest University's Emergency Manager August
Vernon says it presents a timely reminder for stu
dents, faculty and staff to familiarize themselves with
the University's emergency notification system
known as Wake Alert. Wake Alert provides informa
tion and advisories via a number of communication
channels, including the Wake Alert website, text mes
saging, an outdoor warning system, campus cable TV,
e-mail. Twitter, voice mail and a recorded message on
the Wake Forest Weather and Emergency Phone Line.

UNCSA School of Filmmaking among the
country's best programs
The School of Filmmaking at the University of
North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) is
among the nation's best film schools, according to
The Hollywood Reporter, a prestigious voice of the
entertainment industry. UNCSA's Film School is
ranked No. 14 in the publication's sixth annual list of
"The Top 25 American Film Schools." To create the
list for its Aug. 26 issue, available online, The
Hollywood Reporter consulted with "academic
experts, industry professionals and scores of film
school alumni." The article noted that the UNCSA
Film School is "transforming into a cutting-edge tech
hub. This fall, it's offering a new track in immersive
entertainment and augmented reality as students cre
ate a VR (virtual reality) movie with help from
Jacquie Barn brook, producer of The Martian VR
Experience."
