Women's Quarterly Bible study

Quarterly Women's Bible Study on
Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the
church sanctuary. The event discussion
will focus on Hagar: Privilege, Power
and the Mission of God. The Bible
study is designed for women, to pro
vide them with spiritual enrichment

and to increase their awareness as well as education of the
similar challenges women of the Bible had in comparison
to today's women. The theme of the Bible study is
"Sistahs On A Mission." The guest facilitator will be
Jamesine T. Ruff, first lady of Goler Metropolitan A.M.E.
Zion Church. The women of the city are invited to attend.

Salem Partnership Fall Meeting
The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership will hold
its fall meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9,11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.,
with networking from 11-11:30 ajn., at Embassy Suites
Grand Pavilion Ballroom, 460 N. Cherry St. The keynote
speaker is Ethan Kent, senior vice president, Project

Nov. 9 - Shepherd's Center seeks volunteers
The Shepherd's Center, 1700 Ebert St., seeks individ
uals as volunteers to help address the problems of isolation
and lack of social support through the Faith In Action Care
Program. The program consists of home visitation, respite
care, minor home repairs and transportation services for
homebound older adults. Mileage reimbursement will be
provided. Volunteer training will be held on Wednesday,

Nov. 11 & 12 - Community organizing training
The Neighbors for Better Neighborhoods will hold a
Community Organizing 101 two day training at the
Salvation Army, 502 N. Broad St., on Nov. 11 and 12 from
6 to 9 p.m. The training will focus on developing relation
ships with people in the community, and learning the
impact of organizing within a community. Two topics that
will be discussed are effecting change from the inside and
leveraging resources to be successful. Continental break
fast and lunch will be provided. Registration is required.
