He said with six returning players from last year and a few players added from the baseball team he coached leadership should not be an issue with this team. Bell previously has coached the girls basketball team and says with six returning players from the year before he will look to them to lead the team this season. "Hopefully we will pick up some wins along the way, but ultimately this year our goal is to get everybody ready to play at the next level," Bell said. He said last year's team was rather young and was bounced from the tournament early and hopes with a more experienced bunch of kids they will advance further this year. Bell thinks with the mix of experience and athleticism his team possesses they will be a tough out this year at the Lash-Chronicle. Bell says his offensive approach this season will be to get to the rim and shoot free throws. He wants to "pound the ball inside" and get his big men like Richard Ryce involved early and often. Ryce and fellow sophomore Joe Harrison will be asked to play a big role on the team accord ing to Bell. "Those two together are very good leaders, they keep us accountable and they keep the kids in line during practice," Bell said. "The kids have been working hard and have done everything they have beer asked to do. Fundamentally 1 feel like wc are getting better everyday we step into the gym." For Bell he says a successful season foi him would be for his team to be at the top of the conference once the season is over The Vikings had not played a game at the time Bell spoke with the Chronicle but says he has high expectations for his team. "I feel like if we stay true to the funda mentals and our kids continue to work hard, which they have been so far a cham pionship is something that we can attain."
