The Presi dent colled the meeting to order. ‘Hie meeting opened with Mrs. Jer ry Gregory leading the group in the sinking of a Christmas Carol fol lowed my a prayer led by Mrs Amanda K. M. Tirlington. Members wete then seated. The roll was called and the sec retary gave a report on the Finan cial transactions that took place during the month. Reba S. Tilley, the treasurer,- also gave a report. Again this year as in the past years this Unit is not forge‘tinc to remember those disabled Veterans confined to hospitals. As in the past, the members will bake cakes and take them to Fort Bragg again this Christmas. This Unit strone- j ly urges that other neighboring Units do likewise. The encouragement of member ship was also discussed. We are asking that every eligible woman in this community join our unit so that we can be stronger as a group to do more and more good deeds as time progresses. You are ne»ded in the Auxiliary. We need women of many different talents. What ever you can do best, you will have opportunity to use and develop your skill. The American Legion Auxil iary gives its members an \ increased bond of common inter j ests with the Legionnaires of their | families. Upon adjournment of the busi ness meeting, Mrs. Cahie Stewart, guest of the evening, was present ed with a lovely gift of apprecia tion. Mrs. Callie Stewart is the wife of the late Mr. Claude Stew art who donated the building site where the Bute’s Creek Memorial Post now stands. Mrs. Ada Cobb, who played Santa Claus, handed out from under a neat little Christmas tree, gifts which members exchanged. Our hostesses, Mrs. Reba S. Tilley and Mrs. Edna Brown served de licious ambrosia, cookies, nuts and hot coffee at a large candle lighted table beautifully decorated with holly and magnolia leaves. We wish to thank Mrs. Luia Jackson for helping with the decorations and the preparation of the delicious re freshments. Members present included Mrs. Amanda K. M. L Class of the First Baptist Church held their monthly meeting at the homo, of Mrs. R. A. Duncan, Sr. last night with Mrs. Leslie Parker as co-hostess for the evening. The Duncan home was beauti fully decorated carrying out the Christinas motif completely with a colorful Christmas tree, a reindeer scene, a lovely snow scene an* greenry and berries throughout the home. Bank Employees Feted At Gay Party At Country Club On* of the highlights of the gay holiday season ups the dinner party honoring the employees of the First Citisens Bank and Trust Co., and the Installment loan Division and their guests. The party was held at the Ra leigh Country Club In Raleigh last night. The club was beautifully decorated for the occasion with a lovely Christmas note being car ried out. Mr. Earl Mahone, president of the bank, gave a brief speech ct the beginning of the affair and i the meeting and had the devotional Miss Alex Gleason, grandaughter of Mri'. J. V. Rice entertained the group with a delightful solo num ber. Thirteen members were present far thp mpptinp:. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, pIJCEMUII then turned the meeting over to s%srsr^r r "‘ The employees and their guests were presented gifts from the bank which was costume pins for the ladles and cuff links for the men. A dinner was served the guests consisting of wteaks, french fries, tossed salad, ambrosia, coffee and fruitcake. After the delicious din ner dancing was enjoyed by the employees and their guests.
