USS Wisconsin when he unleashed her first group of “calling cards” on Red forces on the Eastern coast of Korea recently. The Wisconsin dropped the one ton, 16-inch “cards" on enemy in stallations and troop concentrations below Wonsan, in support of Re-; public of Korean and U. S. Marine Corps troops. Local Group Attends Meet ,i i With the exception of Smith field, th k host town, Dunn turned out more delegates for the meet ing of the 301 Association there Thursday than any other commu nity. Nine from here attended the meeting. The interest shown in the meet ing is directly attributable to that aroused through the newly formed Dunn Tourist Bureau, the presi dent of which, Howard Hodges, . was one of those present, as was' the new manager of Hodges Motel. Others present included Chamber of Commerce Manager Norman Suttles, City Manager Oliver O. Manning, Earl McD. Westbrock, W. G. Malone, H. W. Tart, Elijah Barefoot, and Mr. and .Mrs. Haeke. Many of the projects discussed have a vital importance to the town of Dunn, since the efforts of the 301 association are directed toward the same end as that of the Dunn Tourist Bureau, attracting more tourists to highway 301, The Dunn Tourist Bureau paid up its membership in the associa tion thus assuring the cooperation of the association In their aim. Plans were outlined for the benefit of the Dunn group for par ticipation on the part of every business affected by the tourist trade in the efforts of the Dunn Tourist Bureau. CL Benson News Mrs. Alonzo Parrish who has spent the past si* weeks with friends in Florida has returned here where she makes her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse T. Morgan. Mrs. Vinnie Smith and her nephew, Charles Jackson, spent Sunday with relatives in Sampson County. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Willis .have returned to their home in River dale, Maryland after a visit here with Mr. Willis’ mother, Mrs. J. H. Willis, and his sister, Mrs. Perby Wilkins. Stancil of Benson and Mr. and Mrs. Newton Lee of Newton Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Berkley Barbour announce the birth of a daughter on Monday, January 14, in the Dunh Hospital. Mrs. Barbour is the former Miss Virgie Frye of Benson. Baptists Slate Weekly TV Stem The Southern Baptist Radio Com mission has been invited by the National Broadcasting Company to televise a program on "Frontiers of Faith" January 27. This is a 'thirty-minute broadcast, and is a regular weekly feature of the NBC television network. Charles Wellborn, Baptist Hour raido speaker, will give the mess age, “Design for Living” Music Wil be supplied by the choir of the Calvary Baptist Church in New York City, under the direction of Sharles Ennis.
