Off-Duty Club is Entertained By Mrs. R. Wade The Off-Duty Bridge Club met Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Rupert Wade at eight o’clock. Three guests were present for the evening of cards. They were Mrs. John Thornton, Mrs. Frank Belote, Mrs. Pat Tart, and Mrs. L. M. Muse. Mrs. Muse is planning to join the club. Red carnations predominated in the floral arrangements. After the second progression the hostess served refreshments con sisting of assorted sandwiches, pickles, potato chips, fruit cake, and cokes. Candy was passed th’-ough play. High prize for guests, note pa per, was won by Mrs. Frank Belote. Traveling prize, Valentine candy, also went to a guest, Mrs. Rat Tart. Club high was won by Mrs. B. A. Bracey. She received a lovely silk scarf. Those playing, in addition to the guests were Mrs. J. B. Lee Jr.. Mrs. B. A. Bracey, Mrs. John Green, and Mrs. Rupert Wade. HEDGEPETH—WALKER Mr. and Mrs. Preston Walker of Wilbon have announced the mar riage of their daughter, Miss Vergie Walker to Mr. Calude Hedgepeth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Hedge peth of Angier. The i.-niriage took place February 2 in Dillon, South Carolina. t'RITCHKR—EDWARDS Mr. and Mrs. Albert Edwards of Grimesland have announced the engagement of their daughter. Miss Fronia Ann Edwards to Raymond T. Critcher\ sop of Mr. and Mrs J. A. Critcher of Angier. The mar riage will take place March 22 at the home of the bride in Grime s land. McLeod is now stationed at Warren Air Force Base in Chey enne, Wyoming. ON COUNCIL New representatives nave been named to the Wbmen’s Dormitory Council of Atlantic Christian Col lege, it has been announced. Mrs. Emily Hol’and Holton of Dunn is an oficer of the Council, serving as secretary cf the group. MRS ERNEST RUSSELL TO BE ON W. C. PROGRAM The Dunn Womans Club will meet in .the High School Library on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. - Mrs. William Newsome, chair man of the Fine Arts Department will be in charge of the program and will present Mrs. Ernest P. ] Russell who will give a program on Early American pressed glass. | Each member is asked to bring her favorite piece of old glass to i the club. Dance Plans Being Completed In order to insure the success ; I of the Washington Birthday Dance sponsored by the Dunn Lions Club, '' a group of attractive and sociable 1 hostesses to serve with the hospi tality committee is a virtual neces sity. Chairman of the -dance, Paul Hester, has devoted considerable time to this particular phase of , the activities, and this morning he announced Che names of the Dunn girls who will serve in this capa city. Local girls who will serve with the hospitality committee are; Gaye . Lee, Nancy Abernathy, Sybil Bar rett, Kathleen Barker, Effie Lou McLean, Pat Snipes, Katherine Taylor, Louise Wade, Electa May i nard, Elizabeth Ray Cromnrtie, Melrose Tart, Becky Lee, Libby Ami Raynor, Louise McGugan and Caro Davis. Bids are being mailed to out-of town guests now, and the chairman asks Dunn residents who desire bids to contact one of the Lions Club members as soon as possible. ' Each Dunn resident who secures a bid may invite five out-of-town | guests. The only charge will be two ■ dollars per couple for the Dunn ' resident and his wife or girl friend. ‘ The out-of-town guests whom he 1 selects will be admitted without charge. Hester emphasizes that admission will be by bid only, and that there will be no tickets sold at the door 1 on the night of the dance. I JR. WOMEN TO HEAR .
