Then, suddenly, there were no more New York Yanks as a Dallas combine started maneuver ing to buy the franchise tossed up by Ted Collins. ‘That’s the way it is in football coaching,” Phelan whispered in a soft voice tinged‘with both hope and despair.- “Wing walkers have, nothing on us, nor do guys who jump with parachutes or talk back to their mothers-in-law.” Haunting the corridors until the early morning. hours as the pro moguls met, Phelan was hopeful that the new combine might be interested in his services.
