A special guest was Mrs. Ruby Bishop who is opening a new drapery and decorating shop In Hayes-Barton. Lovely spring flowers were used in the home for the occasion and the menu consisted of tomato-juice cocktail, a cold plate shortcake and coffee. Johnson Services This Afternoon Funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. Susie Barefoot Johnson, 76, of Benson, Route 2. She died last night at 10:00 o’clock at the home. She had been U1 for sveral weeks. She was a native of Johnston County. The services were held at the home of 3:30 o’clock. Elder Lester Lee of Dunn, Route 5 officiated. Burial was in the'family cemetery, hear the home. , Surviving are her husband- James C. Byrd , Hostess To Book Club Members, The Cosmopolitan Book Club was graciously entertained when the members met at the home of Mrs. Charles Byrd yesterday afternoon. The hostess used lovely arrange ments of jonquils and Japanese quince in the home for the enjoy able occasion; When the guest arrived they were served a tempting salad plate and hot tea. The club president Mis. Keith Finch was absent and Mrs. N. M. Johnson, Jr., presided over a routine business session during which the club members discussed the club’s project for the year and took care of old business. The program chairman Mrs. Earl Jones gave a most informative talk on the North Carolina Portable Assembly. Those members attending the meeting were Mrs. N. M. Johnson, Jr., Mrs. J. W.
