Smith re ceived word that her sister, Mrs. Apple Wrench, while visiting a niece near Clinton, fell and frac tured her hip. She is a patient at Sampson County Memorial Hos pital. Mrs. Bmith, Mrs. Roy L. Smith and Mrs. L. C. Maynard, Sr., visited Mrs. Wrench on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Byrdie Wells were guests of relatives here re cently. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Senter spent Sunday with Mr. Senter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Senter. Mr. Charles Rambeau has re turned to Baltimore after spend ing the weekend here with relatives. Mrs. Florence Williams has re turned from Florida where she spent several weeks. Mrs. Williams and her sister, Mrs. C. K. Smith attended a birthday dinner hon oring another sister. Mrs. Regan, which was given in Raleigh on Sun day. Last Saturday at the Fuquny Furniture Company, Mr. Lane Matthews slipped and fell. In so doing his ldg was broken. He is now at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Matthews: Mr. Henry Bordeaux, a former resident of this community and a brother of Mrs. Clara King and Mrs. Shelton Smith, died at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. William Parrish and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parrish of Louisburg have returned from Simco, Canada where they visited friends. They were accompanied home by Mr. Paul Chervity, of Simco, Canada. He plans to spend a month with the Parrishes. On the return trip they visited Niag ra Falls, Gettysburg, Pa., and Washington, D. C. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey Dean of Washington, D. C. were guests last week of the J. W. Parrishes and the C. L. Deans. Mrs. L. C. Maynard, Sr„ and Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Maynard, Jr., of Dunn, were dinner guests Wed nesday of Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Smith. Mrs. D. H. Senter has been in Raleigh for the past week. Her son, Dr. W. J. Senter. and little grand son, William Senter Currin are both patients at Rex Hospital. Miss Jo Ann Matthews, who holds a position in Washington, spent the weekend here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tyson Mat thews. Beginning Monday, March 3, the members of the Chalybeate Springs Missionary Society will observe A Week of Prayer for Home Missions. On Monday at 7 p. m. the Lattie Moon Circle will be in charge of the program. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Smith visited Mrs. Smith’s brother, Mrs. J. C. Reardon, in Fayetteville last week.
