JULIAN BONO JOHN LEWIS i~:-_ Bond, Lewis To Appear On Strong Show ' CHARLOTTE, N.C. - On Sunday, September 24 at 10:30 p.m. WBTV’s “The Lester Strong Show" will have as its special guests two of the most prominent Black leaders in America. Julian Bond, the controversial. Georgia Legislator, and John Lewis, — prominent Civil Rights leader, will speak on the subject of " The Voter'Education Project; Inc. and the Black movement of today. The- Voter Education Project, Inc. is a private, non profit, non-partisan cor poration which operates a comprehensive program, of voter registration and - citizenship education in the eleven southern states. The purpose of the Voter Education Project is to motivate, register, educate, and encourage total minority involvement in the political _ arena. It also seeks to com pensate in a small measure furthe disadvantages inflic ted on minority groups as a result of many decades of systematic exclusion from southern politics.' In keeping with the ob jertive nf “Tho l«lpr Slrnng Show," that is to bridge the gap between people of varying ~ beliefs and backgrounds,' Strong will also have as special guests Dr. Reginald Hawkins, Democrat from Charlotte, and Republican Reverend James Frieson, who will discuss Blacks in the two party system.
