PHOTO BY PEELER r Local Episcopal Churches ; ■ . * ( • . •. f • ~ • — Join Acolytes Festival - Approximately 30 Acolytes from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Episcopal Churches joined together Sunday for an Acolyte Festival sponsored by Christ the King Center._, "It gives the acolytes <5T' ' each individual congregation" a wider sense of participating in the ministry of the church,” says Father James H. B. Kenyon, Priest-Director of the King Center. “Celebrating the Acolyte Festival in the early fall”, he continued, "enables Acolytes to get the year otf to a good start following summer, vacation. It also heightens one’s sense of dedication.” The procession was directed by Richard Banks, program director of Christ the King Center. The sound truck provided inspirational music during the march, and contemporary folk music was provided by several local guitarists during the celebration. Sister Ellen Stephen, order of St. Jjglena, Augusta, Ga., read the Old Testament Lesson. *-_ Following the celebration acolytes, - clergy, and congregation processed back to the King Center for a supper prepared ind served by- two members to the King Center Council - Charles Gunn of St. Mark’s Church and Ben Ellington of St. Michael’s.
