28 Freshmen Inducted In JCSU Honor Program Twenty eight freshmen at Johnson C. Smith University, who have identified by a predicted grade point average as having honors potential have been enrolled m the no* Honors Program at the In stitution. It is envisioned that these students will be af forded unusual opportunities to experience a wide variety of —e-due a t ion a 1_pndpavers throughout the duration of their college careers The first phase of the JCSLL Honors Program js . the Humanities Component scheduled for this school year Science-Mathematics and Science Components are being planned for honor students who enter the University in 1974. Other components will include the Sophomore Honors Seminar, Departmental Honors Seminars and Independent Study and In-Course Honors. The Humanities Component of the Honors Program in volves a thoroughly new approach to teaching and learning in the fields of Literature, History, Philosophy and Religion, and the Fine Arts. These subjects are woven together into a multi-faceted educational investigation of how human beings have lived and thought and created human culture throughout the centuries. In each chronological period, the various aspects of the human achievement are studied both intensively in terms of their symbiotic relationships wrf-h-—eaoh—other.
