Smith University homecoming themselves on the AKA's float in the annual parade. * Black College Chancellors Head National Association Two chancellors of predominately black universities in North Carolina will make history this month when they assume the presidencies of major higher education associations. Dr. Albert M. Whiting, chancellor of North Carolina Central University, Durham, N.C. is scheduled to become president of the . American Association of State Colleges and Universities on Nov. 9-at the association’s annual meeting in San Diego, California. On November 14, Dr. Lewis C. Dowdy , chancellor of A&T State University, will become president of the 101-year-old National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges at that group’s an ..nual meeting in Denver, Colorado. When Dowdy president elect of the NASULGC last November, was named and Whiting became prmlddnt elect of AASCU, its was the first time that blacks had been uuuaeii iu ntrau major rugrier education associations. Dowdy succeeds Dr. W. Roberts, president of Iowa State University and Whiting will replace Dr. Harold Hyde, president of Plymouth State College in New Hampshire.
