Von Jackson, pastor of the New Pleasant Valley Baptist Church here in Charlotte, will deliver a mess age that will hold great ex pectations for the rest of the week. The devout astrology buffs also have an alternate plan for travel-the guidance of their individual stars and zodiac signs-as they persue their goals of becoming well-known and famous singers, movie stars, and or models. All four singers say they are> serious students of astrology' and are guided in their deci sions by the signs. “We read (books on astrology) ourselv es to death." says Soulfonette Valerie Woodard, “and we be lieve that, as long as there is a Virgo in the group, business will get done." After considerable reading, the group gets together and ‘talk about it” (astrology), says Valerie, who added that none of them are taking any formal courses of study in astrology. They are "stuck on astro logy" and 21-year-old Valerie, a Virgo, adds, “we do a lot of sign work (making decisions by the signs and stars).” Other members of the group who have been singing together for 5 years since they started in 1969 while at Second Ward High School, are: Martha Smith, age 20, a Liora; Kegina Croslin, age 23, a Leo; and Mary Massey, age 24, a Tarus.
