Martin Sr. Post Executive Editor About 10 religious choirs will gather Sunday at Char lotte’s Park Center at 2:30 p.m. to "sing praises to Al mighty God” in an effort to raise the $29,239 in cash and pledges for the Martin Luther King Statue Fund Drive to $40,000, according to the Rev. James Barnett, spearhead of the King Memorial effort. Rev. Barnett said Radio Station WGIV, THE CHAR LOTTE POST and his own Barnett Promotions are spon soring a “Gathering of Choirs” program “to push towards a goal of $40,000. That is, to raise the $29,239 in cash and pledges for the MLK Me morial Statue by about 33 percent.” Barnett noted that the spon soring groups’ actions in this program are not affiliated with nor sanctioned by the Mayor-appointed MLK Me morial Fund Committee that he heads, however the $3 uuiiuiiuii * vv^uvoicu ui caui person attending the gather ing” will be used to support the King Statue effort.
