Prophet's Column "Armenianism" By J. M. LitUe The vast majority of our churches today have an Arm enian ministry even though they have a Calvanistic creed. Practically one hundred per cent of our church members are arméniens. Armeniarusm has spread like wild fire in this century. Armenianism is basing sal vation on the will of man and not on the will of God. My friend, salvation is based en tirely on the will of God iJn. 1:13), that's Calvinism. Armenian theology says that all you have to do to be saved is just make up in your own mind that you want to live for Jesus. Further armenian theology teaches that you can give your heart to Jesus, or tell Jesus you are sorry for all your sins and invite Him to -come into your heart. Further armenian theology teaches that all you have to do to be saved is just make a profes sion, go down the aisle and oivp the nroaphor wnnr Kon/1 and "hit the sawdust trail for Jesus brother." Further ar meMten theology teaches that all you have to do is "just believe, just believe." An ar rçieman deacon sat in my home this past Summer and kept harping on believing. I told him more than once that a dead man could not believe. He thought I was tailing about dead people out in the cemete ry. Further, arménien theolo gy teaches that you can "jine" by letter. It has been a famili ar saying in armenian circles ; "I'm going to 'jine' tonight," or, "I 'jined' last night," or, just as soon as the preacher opens the doors of the church I'm going to go down and 'jin' the church. Let me tell you something friend, salvation is not "jining" the church! ! Sal vation is a deliverance from death unto life! (Jn. 5:24) Now you think on that for awhile. This easy "believingism" which is also at the core of armenianism is, and is going to damn the multitudes of you church members in Hell! I praise the Lord I had nothing to do with my salvation. Yet in practically every church sal vation is based on the will of poor blinded and depraved sinners. Salvation would not be eternal if man could have something to do in it. I quoted Eph. 2:8 to that armenian A>aHfcvJ3f'FO* nV...CRAPE ARB YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; AND THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES: IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD:" He did not see that great eternal truth. My heart has bled for you arméniens. It'll be a sad day when you wake up in Hell thinking you were saved, but then to discover that you were lost all the while. So for your soul's sake listeri for eternity. Salvation is a Person, and that Person is the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you know Christ? Was there a time in your life when the Lord definitely awa kened you to the fact you were lost? The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost (Lk. 19:10) If you cannot go back to the time you stood before the Lord as a lost sinner, you are not saved. I don't care how much Scrip ture you claim to know! If you cannot go back to the time you stood before the Lord seeing and acknowledging you were lost and on the road to Hell, then you are not saved! If you cannot tell what God saved yq^from and what God saved youlo, you are not saved! Now you can go on in your arméni en delusion if you want to, but it will damn your poor soul to Hell! I know what I'm talking about in these simple mess ages my friend One day I stood before the Lord as a lost sinner. After living a religious life, a leader in church among the young folks, a deacon and Bible teacher like my older brother. Then the Lord in His great love and mercy awak ened me to the fact I was lost. I saw what the trouble had been all the while, I had never been saved. Yes, a very religi ous soul, but lost. It was the most amazing thing that had ever happened to me. Do you - understand what I'm talking about? I had lived for years hoping I was saved but always there was an emptiness in my heart I was trying to fill but never could fill. There are some of you who read my messages that are in that same boat. You are very religious but deep in your heart there is an emptiness that you cannot fill. You know that is so. I would read my Bible on Sunday afternoons after coming in from church, and sit there reading from the epistles of Paul, and from the Book of Job and cry out in my heart; "Oh if I could be saved like Paul was saved, or like Job was saved!" It didn't dawn upon me then that if I were ever to be saved I would be saved just like Paul and Job. When the Holy Spirit made me aiive lo my lost condition (Eph. 2:1) He began to ^ι<φ me many things about mysett»' and about the Lord. You see, the Lord I thought I knew was only a figment of my blinded and depraved imagination. I came to see I was far off from God, and that God wrote bitter things against me. Night and day as the blessed Holy Spirit revealed more and more to me about myself from the Word I lost all hope of every being saved. I saw I could not save myself and that if I ever were to be saved, the Lord would have to do it all. He showed me I deserved nothing but Hell. I cried; Lord, if you send me on to Hell where I belong. I'll go down to the Pit begging for mercy. And on that Saturday early noon when the Holy Spirit threw back the blind fold of my heart and let me see the back side of my heart I died right there. Yes, I died spiritually right there. I saw such unbelief and hatred in my heart against God, His Word, and His servants I cried out; oh I hate God, there is no hope for me, I'll just go on to j Hell where I belong. I threw up my hands in my heart in > complete surrender. I was all done, I was through trying to get saved. I didn't know at that time that was the Holy Spirit slaying me at the feet of Christ in order that He might raise me to new life in Christ. But just a short while after that there came a revelation to my heart; "Blessed are they which are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb (Rev. 19:9) I saw Christ had blessed me from eternity to· eternity and that I could never perish. The burden I had been carrying on my back rolled away and He made me to rejoice in Him as I had never known. I praise the Lord He did it all, all I have is Christ. He is my salvation. Oh what a Ch rist! What a Saviour! My Lord, my Redeemer, the One who died for me. You can have your arme nianism, your easy believingi sm. All that is just the motions of sin. I pity you. Christ is not a living reality to you. I try to talk to you about the simplici ty in Christ and you jump the fence. May God open your eyes and let you see the death trap you are in. God's way is by faith through and in a Person, and that Person is Christ. Do you know Him? Let go of your false easy believ ingism friend. Ask the Lord to take it from you. On your own you'll never give it up. But give it up you must. I don't know if I have said anything that is going to help you or not, but may the Lord have mercy on you as He did on me. vtM&CC Art Studemn - - Art students and faculty at The University of North Caro lina At Charlotte will display their works beginning Nov. 28 when the annual Student-Fa culty Show opens on campus in Rowe Gallery. M Little Food Prices Predicted To Rise In 1978 WASHINGTON-Consu-. mers can expect average re tail food prices next year to average 4 to 6 percent above the 1977 levels, barring a major shortfall in world food production, said Kenneth R. Farrell, Acting Administra tor, Economic Research Ser vice, at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's 1978 Food and Agricultural Outlook Confer ence here today. The predict ed rise compares with 1977's gain of about 6 percent. He said most of the upward pressure is expected to come from increased costs in the marketing sector and relative ly less from imported foods and fish, which have been instrumental in boosting \<m prices. Average increases in groce ry store prices are expected to be in the neighborhood of 1 to 2 percent quarterly for the first half of 1978 reflecting normal seasonal patterns for farm prices and a continued upward push in marketing costs. For the fifth consecutive year in the farm value of U.S. produc ed food is expected to hold at about $56 billion in 1978 Far rell predicted, although con sumer expenditures for that food will rise to $188 billion. Thus, the farm sector will continue to slow down rises in retail food costs and general price inflation. In fact, he added, labor costs in marketing domesti cally produced farm foods will exceed the farm value of those foods for the second straight year. Labor costs have been going up steadily while farm values have leveled. Contin ued stability in farm value of food is indicated by prospects for large supplies and low farm prices in 1978, Farrell said. The currently expected grain sales abroad, domestic grain stocks exceed likely use by a comfortable margin. Farrell estimated that pri ces for away-from-home food for all of 1977 are up 98 percent over last year on the average and prices are up 6 percent for food at home. Consumer demand for food is expected to continue to expand at about the same rate in 1978 as it has this year. In addition to anticipated small increases in the population, disposable personal income is expedked to increase about percent, -nearly the same as the 1977 increase. Other up ward pressures on food prices in 1978, Farrell said, include energy costs in processing and marketing, 7 or 89 percent gains in wages of food indus try workers, and similar in creases in transportation ra tes.
