Director’s
License
Albert D Neal, 1805 Patton
Avenue, Charlotte, received
his funeral director’s license
through a correspondence
course in Mortuary Science
with the North Carolina State
Board of Mortuary Science in
Raleigh.
Mr. Neal did his apprentice
ship under the supervision of
Louie B. Davis, general man
ager of Long and Son Mortua
ry Service. A graduate of West
Charlotte, Mr. Neal also at
tended Carver College as an
honor student majoring in
Business Administration. He
is owner and operator of
Neal’s Barber Shop where he
has been self-employed for the
past 42 years.
He has always wanted to
become a funeral director
from the very moment that he
was employed by Long and
Son Mortuary. Through his
employment he was highly
inspired by the staff to pursue
a corresponding course in
Mortuary Science.
He has already become ac
tive by obtaining a member
ship in the Western District of
Funeral Directors and is seek
ing membership with the Na
tional Funeral Directors and
Mortician Association.
Mr. Neal is an active mem
ber of Friendship Missionary
Baptist Church of the city,
Coleman W. Kerry Jr., Past
or.

Heights Garden
Club Meeting
The home of Mrs. Cora
Gaither was the site for the
Washington Heights Garden
Club regular meeting which
was held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at
7:30 p.m.
With Mrs. Lois Scott, presi
dent of the club presiding, the
meeting opened with the sing
ing of Christmas carols. Mrs.
Essie Stovell, chaplain then
led the members in prayer. By
everyone being in the Christ
mas spirit, they collected mo
ney for the Christmas party
and made plans to receive new
members the first of the year.
The club also had a visitor,
Mrs. Marie Barten. With all
business taken care of, the
hostess served a lovely re
pass.
