Dramatics Headline Concert ABC recording artists the Dramatics recently celebra ted their 10-year anniversary as a group by headlining a concert at the Pantages The atre in Hollywood. At the near-sell out show, the five-man group performed their current R&B chart sin gle, “Ocean of Thoughts and ' Dreams,” which featured lead vocalist Ron Banks in an extended solo spot. The Dramatics also gave their audience a sneak pre view of songs from their forth coming ABC album, Do What You Want To Do. Channel 9 Special To Highlight Gehrig One of the most beloved men in baseball history, Lou Geh rig, will be highlighted on Channel Nine’s special, "A merican Lifestyle,” which examines the lives of legend ary Americans. Hugh Downs will ho6t this program to be telecast Sunday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m. Gehrig's career will be traced, from his sickly boy hood to his place in the Base ball Hall of Fame, hich in cludes the 14-year period he compiled a lifetime batting average of .341 and played 2130 consecutive games and seven World Series. Read the Charlotte Post Each Week. ■ ■■■ 1 Amav James tenter Sponsors Doll Show m Amay James, Boulevard Homes and Revolution were the three centers that were represented at the annual Doll Show, sponsored by the Char lotte Parks and Recreation Center ^tt 2425 Lester St. This rainbow colorful dis play served as a most specta cular event as children of all ages competed for prizes for mo6t unique exhibit. This year’s theme for the show was “Wonderland of Dolls.” The theme was most representa tive of the show in that the many different classifications of dolls;mechanical, bride cloth, foreign, stuffed, large, small and others were set admidst a scenery of wall decorations and draped to the setting of the colorful Walt Disney World. The decora tions were that of the famous Walt Disney characters: Mic key Mouse, Donald Duck, Do nna Duck, Winnie The Pooh, Yogi Bear and all sorts of clowns. Famous doll collectors from over the U. S. judged the best entries in the show. Trophies were awarded to the three runner-ups. First and second i place certificates were given in each classification. A combined fust and second place winner was Debbie Wil liams. Maxine Ford won the pre tige of "Best of Show” for her 28-year-old Toni Doll. The whole event turned out as a most colorful and inspira r,Mi ~ i ion affair. WTVI Extends Festival ’78 Marathon WTVI, Charmer 42 in con junction with many public levevision stations will extend it Festival 78 Marathon to include a Masterpiece Theatre Party. The 36 hour Marathon pf uninterrupted program ming will begin on Saturday, March 18 and run until Sunday March 19 at midnight. Stars from some of the past Master piece Theatre series will join the Marathon on Sunday, sponsored by WNET in New York. Dick Cavett, Jean Marsh. Robin Ellis, Sain Phillips, and others will be featured during the final round of the festival.
