CBS To Provide Nostalgia

CH 29, at 10 p.m. portion of the
nine-and-ooe-half hour recol
lection to be broadcast on
WBTV, Channel 3, was over
come with nostalgia when she
■v read the script devised for her
participation.
Miss Tyson, who holds two
Emmys for her superb perfor
mance in “The Autobiography
of Miss Jane Pittman.” was
asked to do the narration to
accompany film clips from
“Medical Center,” one of the
long-running (Wedndsday nig
ht) fixtures on the Network.
Miss Tyson recalled: “I joi
ned college football superstar
O.J. Simpson, though it was
before he had gained profes
sional status, when he was the
guest star on the first episode
of the hospital series.
“There was a lot of excite
ment on the set back in 1969.
My role as the wife of O.J.,
who played an athlete suffer
ing with a crippling disease,
proved especially meaningful
to my carree. I got favorable
feedback from several produ
cers and it led to an import
ant casting on ‘Gunsmoke, ’ for
which I won an NAACP a
ward.
“You can imagine my de
light when I read the ’CBS:
ON THE AIR’ script and
discovered the ‘Medical Cen
ter’ reference. It brought back
many pleasant memories, in
particular, being selected for
the show.”
