The appreciation pro gram was held at the New England Oyster House on June 10, located in Fort Pierce, Florida. Mrs. Morgan is a graduate of West Charlotte High School, and received further educa tion from the University of Wisconsin and North Carolina Central University in Educa tion and Sociology She has taught at Fairfield Elementary School in Winns ~ boro, S.C., Charlotte Mecklen burg School System, Garden City Elementary, St. Lucie County School System, and served as St. Lucie County School System School Social Worker for 11 years. her recent honors include appointment to Pupil Person nel Advisory Committee of the State Department, WARN Flowers For the Living Pro gram, and appointment to the State Handbook Committee on Pupil Services in the Middle School. Mrs. Morgan's membership and past and present affilia tions include Life Member ship of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, United Presbyterian Women's Association, Good will Presbyterian Church Choir, Church Women United, Board of Trustees of Indian River Community College, Board of Directors of Commu nity Day Care Center, Human Relations Council, and Chair man of the Advisory Commi ttee of Lincoln Park Commun ity Library, to name a few. Mrs. Morgan was born in Charlotte, and is the wife of Rev. Frank Douglas Morgan, minister of Goodwill Presby terian Church, located in Ft. Pierce, Florida. Bike%Safety Rodeo Will Be Held July 26 Charlotte's First Annual Bike Safety Rodeo will be held on Wednesday, July 26 begin ning at 9:30 a.m. on the Freedom Park ballfields. Competition will be divided into 9-11 years old and 12-14 year old categories. Trophies and prizes will be awarded and all participants will be presented a certificate of achievement. Subscribe To The Poet Mrs. Lob Scott Hosts Garden Qub Meeting The Washington Heights Garden Qub met on July 5 at the home of Ms. Lois Scott, club president, at 1615 Taylor Ave. Ms. Scott presided the meeting and also served as hostess. Discussion at the meetings concerned choosing a delegate to attend the Federation of Garden Clubs Convention which will be held in Burling ton, N.C. from August 6 - 8, at the Burlington Inn. President Scott was the choeen delegate to attend the Burlington Convention. The Club gave a wedding gift to Ms. Roeetta Cboate, daughter of Mrs. Ethyl Choate, club secretary. A new member, Mrs. Helen Frederick, was accepted and well received. Thirteen members were present; they were Mrs. Lois Scott, Mrs. Ethyl Choate, Mrs. Willette Patterson, Ms. Essie Stovall, Ms. Cora Gaither, Mrs. Lillie Mae Carter, Ms. Jessie Lee Hamilin, Mrs. Viola Allison, Mrs. Carrie Pitts, Mrs. Maude Smalls, Mrs. Janie Pride, Mrs. Pearl Philips, and Mrs. Helen Frederick. The September meeting will be he^dl at the home of Mrs. Maude Smalls, 2433 Booker Ave. KING AND QUEEN WINNERS The PTA and Grade Mothers of Our Lady of Consolation School recently sponsored a King and Queen Contest at the School. Individual class kings and queens were selected from each class, and the participants who raised the largest sum of money won the title of King and Queen. Sean Brandon was chosen King. Sean is a second grader at Our Lady and is the son of Mr and Mrs. Robert Brandon of 3118 Southwest Blvd. Melena Forney, a fourth grader, was chosen Queen. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. Charles Forney of 3329 Barringer Dr. Mrs. Floizel Ervin, president of the PTA, said that "the program was a tremendous success."
