I -'rom The Entertainment World James Earl Jones and Lloyd Richards have both agreed to be in David L. Wolper's "Roots: The Next Genera tion." Jones will play the part of Alex Haley and Lloyd Rich ards. James Earl Jones starred recently in the highly acclaim ed "James Roberson" with Lloyd Richards as director. The Spinners recently pre sented Charles Briscoe with a scholarship at a luncheon at the Cherry Hill Hyatt House. Friday Morning Quarterback publisher Kal Rudman was guest speaker of the luncheon held in the Temple University student's honor. "If You Wanna Do A Dance All Night" is the single from the "The Best of Spinners" LP that is doing quite well for them. This single has already been selected by Record World as "Chartmaker of the Week." Muhammad Ali has had quite a few picture offers offered to him lately, but declares that they're not what he's looking for. His most colorful jingle, "I am the black Gable," was proven somewhat by his recent well received trip to Russia. Jim Brown has turned out to be quite a tennis player. He whipped Chuck Heston, the Champ, in consecutive sets at La Costa. Kareem Abdul Jabbar re cently requested that his home be removed from a route of a sightseeing bus line. Jabbar and his lawyer both agree that it is an invasion of his privacy. Β. B. King is also into sightseeing from another pro spective this week. He has seen into the future by invest ing dollars in a binocular factory. Warner Brothers has just released a new album by Lonette McKee, entitled "Words ft Music." The former Detroit singer was in the comedy "Which Way Is Up" with Richard Pry or. Richard "the lionhearted" Pryor has been involved to a release himself lately. He bashed up another car during an argument with his new sweetheart, Anne Barkle at a West wood party. By the time the cops arrived everyone claimed that a gang had done it. Berry Gordy Sr. celebrated his 90th birthday last week This grand occasion was ob served in his hometown of De toit. The Mint Museum of Hist ory and the Alexander Home site is now open for visitors —jjn-thfrQw—a City through July 27. The museum can be seen from 6 to 9 p.m. but tours of the A Homesite will begin at 7:10, 8:10, and 9:10. The cooler hours have been added to the summer schedule to attract more visitors to these beautiful surroundings. Curtis O. Peters is the new Executive News Producer and Director of Public Affairs at WRET-TV in Charlotte. The Cum Laude graduate from Johnson C. Smith University made Charlotte his home for 14 years and has returned for this poet. In this new capacity, Peters will be responsible for the day to day news operations at TV-36. Jack Dula, production director at WBT-FM has also been doing his homework. He recently graduated from Johnson C.· Smith University on the Dean's List. Livingstone Class Of *28 Celebrates Salisbury - The Giants of '28 made history! The Golden Anniversary for Livingstone's Class of '28 made history during the 1978 Commencement weekend. Seven of the graduates were present who enjoyed a week end of festivities with the highlight on Monday evening when the National Alumni Association featured them at it's regular Public Service Banquet. t^neviUe Dinner Theatre Play "How the Other Half Loves" Follows Delightful Pattern nu w ine umer Half Loves" is this month's attract ion at the Pineville Dinner Theatre. This delightful play is patterned after television's Sergeant Bilko and stars Henry Jones. Mr. Jones is known to mil lions of American as Judge Johnathan Dexter of the tele vision series "Phyllis." With a career that has spanned over 20 years and 300 product ions, he has won a Tony Award and Variety's New York Drama Critic Poll Award. In "How The Other Half Loves;" he plays the executive Frank, who is very incohesive at home. The audience loves his natural portrayal of a fickle character who cannot find anyting in his house from his shoes to the whereabouts of his wife. Ann Gardner is exceptional as his tolerant wife Fiona who is having an affair with one of the lower ranked men at her husband's office. She does an excellent job of sidetracking her husband as to her where abouts on their wedding anni versary. Bob, played by James Reb horn. is the dashing young man that Fiona is obscessed with. A rather crude chara cter himself, Bob is not quite as good at concealing the truth from his wife. Ann Paul is Bob's wife who keeps a thoroughly unorgani zed house. She perphaps has the hardest part to play and does an excellent job. Put them all together and you can find out how the other half loves each night at the Pineville Dinner Theatre. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. BATCH Defeats Gastonia, Upe Record To 3-3 The BATCH Traveling All Stars shellacked the Gastonia Highland Racquet Club Aces in a crucial Southeastern Racquet Association match recently at Hornet's Nest Park. The Traveling All-Stars evened their conference record at 3-3 with the win. They are tied with the Raleigh Ebony Racquet Club Racquet eers who are 2-2. Winston Salem's Kimberly Park Smokers lead with a 4-0 record. They are followed closely by Richmond's Recking Crew with a 2-0 record. The Aces are 0-6 overall. The BATCH junior varsity remains in second place in the league with a 4-1-1 record behind Richmond's 2-0.
