Walker Special To The Post Melba Moore visited the children’s ward of the NYU Medical Center and showed an episode of the new fall series of ITT’s “Big Blue Marble”, the award-winning children’s TV series for which she re mains spokesperson. FCC Commissioner Tyrooe Brown will address the Black Citizens for Fair Media at a meeting on Friday. Oct 20 at the Harlem State Office Building. Brown, who replac ed Benamin Hooks on the FCC will talk about the Van Derlin Fray bill, commonly known as the rewrite of the IBM Com munications Act. Last week, Brown in an unusually harsh speech before the Federal Communications Bar Associa tion. charged that the FCC has “abdicated’’ its responsibili ties, resulting in “a virtual break down in national com munications policy.” Joan Armatrading, a St. Kitts-born, Englandrbased singer, composed ana sings the title song of “The Wild Geese”, the worldwide smash film Allied Artists is opening in the U.S. on Nov. 10. It's "Tough Custom ers," a 1920 scenario about a black woman running a num bers racket in Harlem and her involvment with the ganster Dutch Schultz. For the unin formed, this is a true story. The woman’s name was Mad ame St. Clari—and she intro duced the numbers to Harlem. If you missed catching Sammy Davis, Jr. in person in enough to see the show at your local theatre since SEE Theatre Network is bringing superstar extraordinary events into the neighborhood theatres. Another show will be “Pippin.” Shows will be seen in 500 theatres across Ameri ca. The National Black Theatre opens its new season on Nov. 17 with “Softly Comes A Whirlwind,” a muscial exper ience conceived and directed by NBT’s producer, Barbara Ann Teer. The theatre is loca ted at 9 East 125th Street. The Amas Reportory Theat re has announced its 9th sea son opening of musical show case productions under the artistic directorship of Rose tta LeNoire with “Sparrow in Flight”, written by Charles Fuller, author of the play “The Brownsville Raid”, and based on a concept by Ms. LeNoire. It’s a musical bio graphy of Ethel Waters and opens Nov. 2 and closes Nov. 19. Theatre is at 1 East 104th Street. Woodie King, Jr.’s New Fe deral Theatre presents “Hot Dishes! ”, a musical fable about gossip, with book, music and lyrics by Maurice Peter son and starring Ernestine Jackson, Oct. 19 through 29.
