WILLIAM "BILL" HAYES ...Winston-Salem coach Bill Hayes Selected "Coach Of The Year" For the second in two yean», William "Bill" Hayes has been named "Coach-of the Year", in the Mutual Black Network Black College All American (BCAA). Hayes, successful in leading his football team, the Winston Salem Rams, to an undefeated season, was selected by a team of his peers. He will be honored at the 1978 MBN Black College All American Awards Banquet, to be held in Houston, Texas, at the Stouf fers Hotel, January 5-6, 1979. In addition, he will receive the use of a Buick automobile for a full year, from the Buick Motor Division, the co-sponsor of the BCAA Awards. The weekend also pays tribute to twenty-two offensive and defensive players, outstand ing in their athletic ability, from black colleges in Ameri ca. The 1978 Offensive and Defensive Players-of-the Year are Jeffrey Moore, Jack son State College, and Dwayne Board, North Carolina A4 Τ State University, respective ly. Both players' schools will be awarded a 15,000 scholar ship in their names. This year's BCAA Awards Banquet will be hosted by Ms. Denise Nicho las. Malcolm Sanders, Eric Johnson and Trent Westmoreland are top guns. The Myers Park Mustangs travel to tough Harding. Still, they have Scotty Williams, Eddie Scales and Eric Givens. That's enough talent to scare anybody. Olympic's hot shot Trojans who are reminding their fans of the olden days when they ruled supreme will visit lowly West Mecklenburg. The Tro jans have guards Johnny Mathias and Ricky Stevenson, forwards James Guy, Frede rick Fee and center Grey Ardrey. The Indians are in a reboun ding year. On Tuesday, the big games are West Charlotte at Mvers Park. Others gam<? have Olympic at Eaati Rock Hill at Harding and West Meek, at Independence. Wednesday's game have South at North.
