Dick, Steve and Mike. Sloan Says New P.O. Jeeps Use Less Gasoline Those new, all-white mail jeeps you may have noticed on Charlotte streets are not only different looking on the out side, they use less gasoline because they have a smaller engine, according to Post master O B. Sloan. The new white vehicles are powered by a four-cylinder engine instead of the present six-cylinder engine in the older jeeps The Environmen tal Protection Agency gives the four-cylinder engine a combined city highway rating of 20 miles per gallon compar ed to 17 miles per gallon for the six-cylinder engine The all-white jeeps cost less to buy because they are painted a single color, and the Postal Service expects they will require less upkeep The blue section of the older jeeps requires repainting as often as once every other year. Because white will stand up to weather conditions better, re painting will generally not be needed more than one time during the average eight year £fe span of delivery jeeps The Postal Service is phasing in about 9,000 of the white jeeps through October of 1979. It will repaint older vehicles In the fleet all-white but only as required Spring Cleaning Spring cleaning time is also a good time to clean your thermostat Remove the cover and blow away any dust that has accu mulated, urge specialists with the North Carolina Agricultur al Extension Service. They say this job should be done at least once a year. All thermostats for heating and air conditioning should be on an inside wall or where they will not be subject to drafts HARVEST FRESH FLORIDA SWEET YELLOW CORN I til' EARS HARVEST FRESH FIORIDA ORANGES_5 .‘.‘o 99* HARVEST FRESH IETTUCE ROMAINE ... 3 iSSI 99* COUNTRY STAND MUSHROOMS.. r‘.°o: M*» HARVEST FRESH BROCCOLI HARVEST FRESH GREEN ZUCCHINI SQUASH.3 m 99' HARVEST FRESH CALIFORNIA AVOCADOS.. 2 89* HARVEST FRESH GREEN NIONS.4 BNCHS 99' JUMBO SIZE HARVEST FRESH PINEAPPLE * SUPERBRAND ICE CREAM BARS OR , ICECREAM SANDWICHES I I >UrcKDKAND TWIN POPS OR FUDGE BARS 12 So. 88* MORTON 6 OZ.
