"Within a few years, the ability to program and use micro-computers will be as important as being able to read, write, type, drive or use the telephone,” he explained. r-nougn people wiu adopt the use of this technology to put those who fail to adapt at a serious disadvantage,” New berry told the crowd of about 200 parents, friends and gra duates. Twenty-two students recei ved degrees during the exer cise. "We must learn more to assure that microtechnology does not become our new ‘slave master,'” Newberry warned. “In addition to expan ding your knowledge,” New berry continued, “you should also be willing to share your knowledge with those who are less fortunate. We have to develop a spirit of sharing our knowledge with others.” "Unless we are vigilant,” Newberry said, "we will be on a plantation harder to escape from than the Reynolds place which held Kunta Kinte,” the African slave of which Alex Hailey wrote in Roots.
