Sunshine Beauty and Talent Pa- j
geant May 10 in Shelby at 7:30
p.m. at the Graham Elementary
School, 1100 Blanton St.'
The pageant is open to ages 3-4
Wee Miss, 5-7 Little Miss, 8-11 Jr.
Miss, 12-14 Young Miss, 15-17
Teen Miss and ages 18-25 Miss
which means never married.
Beauty, talent, and photogenic
appeal will be judged in three
separate categoriés.
All winners in beauty and
talent competition will have
their N. C. State Miss Sunshine

April Bus Ridership Increases

(CTS) bus ridership con
tinued its upward climb
with an increase of 23.38
percent or 111,690 more
riders as compared to
April, 1979 figures.
A total of 589,300 revenue
passengers were carried
by CTS during this period.
April was the ninth month
out of the past ten months
that revenue passengers
exceeded the 500,000 mark.
Express bus ridership in
creased 439.78 percent over
April, 1979 totals when 38,
nine express routes. This
represented a half a per
cent increase over those
riding expresses in March,
1980.
Sales of monthly bus
passes (TRAC) also in
creased in April by 216.37
percent over April of last
year. April was the second
"month in a row that over
1,000 TRAC passes were
sold, with 1,182 bus riders
buying passes.

Operate Youth
Sports Program
The National Youth
Sports Program of Johnson
C. Smith University will
operate from June 16
through July 19, 8:30 a.m.
to 2 p.m.
The program is open to
a]} youth between the ages
of 10 and 18 years old
regardless of race, creed,
color, nationality, sex or
handicap. Each participant
must meet the CSA poverty
guidelines.
All prospective partici
pants are to report to Bray
boy Gym at 9 a.m. on June
7 for registration and a
complete medical examin
ation.
A daily morning snack
and lunch will be provided
by USDA through the sum
mer feeding program
operated by the N.C. De
partment of Public Instruc
tion.
Participants will have
the opportunity to develop
a variety of sports skills
under the supervision of
coaches and teachers.
The Enrichment phase of
NYSP is an integral seg
ment of 'the program in
cluding topics such as
health education, career
opportunities, job respon
sibilities and others.
