^^^MRS. LERO^RAWfS^^^™ ...She was Miss Barbara Elder Miss Barbara Elder Weds Leroy Crawford Miss Barbara Elder and Leroy Crawford were mar ried Saturday at Taber nacle Baptist Church. Rev. W. A. Rorie officiated at the ceremony. The bride is the daugther of Rev. Ulysses Elder of 2724 Kendell St. and the late Mrs. Laura B. Elder. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Annie M. Davis of West Palm Beach, Fla., and the late Moolan Stokes. For the ceremony the bride was attired in an ivory, floor-length gown de signed by Emma Domb of California. She wore white carnations in her hair and carried a bouquet of white carnations, stephnois, and baby’s breath trimmed with white lace ribbons. Matron of Honor, Hazel ine Miller wore a blue gown with white and blue flowers. Bridesmaids - Marie McLaughlin and Queen Ester Anderson - wore blue dresses, blue veils and carried white bouquets embellished with blue ribbons. Shojanda Crawford, the npwdTgirl and Sibil Mo rita Owens were dressed m i u— the same as the Dnaes maids. The Best Man was Willie Clay Coleman of West Palm Beach. Ushers were Ulysses Elder Jr., William D. Owens Jr. and Avery J. Ballard. The bridegroom's mother wore an aqua sheer pleated dress, belted at the waist with bell sleeves. Phillip Moore of Syra cuse, NY was the organist and Ester Burton the soloist. A reception was held at Howard Johnson’s on 1-85 in Statesville. Out-of-town guests came from Jacksonville, Fla., Augusta, Ga„ West Palm Beach, Fla., Syracuse, N.Y. and Health Springs, S.C. ta attend the wedding. The bride graduated from West Charlotte High School and attended Car ver College and the Caro lina School of Broadcast ing. She is employed at Frito Lay, Inc. The bridegroom is a graduate of Martha Scho field High in Aiken, S.C. He is presently working for National Freight. Or1:' Care Center Opens In Hidden Valley Area By Susan Ellsworth Post SUN Writer If you need day care for your children the newly opened Snow White s Won derland Child Care Center can help. The center, located at 4915 Snow White Lane in the Hidden Valley area is accepting applications during regular weekday hours from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Care is available for in fants and children ranging from two weeks to 12 years old. Planned recreation and educational enrichment is provided for children along with some field trips. Employee and parent workshops are used to up date participants on me thods of dealing with children. Portfolios are kept on each child so his develop ment can be discussed with parents at the center’s PTA meetings. Aside from two trained staff members, Mrs. Vir ginia Parks directs the pro grams and Dr. Valeria Granger and Mrs. Barbara Goines supervise activi ties. Granger and Goines are licensed nurses ex perienced in child develop ment. Able to accommodate 45 youngsters - medical forms for the children will be distributed when parents register them. Johnson, daughter of Mrs. Angela Johnson of Philadelphia, Pa., and Robert Johnson of Charlotte will graduate from Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, Pa. with honors, June 16. She will deliver the commence ment’s salutory speech en titled “The Way We Were.” -Ms. Johnson is 28th out of a class of 415. She is a member of the National Honor Society, scored 1250 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (S.A.T.), and received the Roxborough Library Scholarship. She was ho nored in “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” in 1978-79. Track and field are among her interests and she has been on her school’s teams for three years. Writing on the school newspaper and participating on the de bating team are just a few other of Ms. Johnson’s ac tivities. "I also enjoy reading, people, art, music and spending money," she re marked. Future plans for Ms. Johnson include attending college. She will attend Allegheny College in Mead Sabrina Johnson ...Roxborough grad ville. Pa. and study the pre-med curriculum. “I plan to become a Behavorist,” she began, “I would like to study and devise techniques to work and treat the criminal.” She states that her philo sophy of ife is “Live life to its fullest, enjoy every mo ment, and don’t regret each mistake." Ms. Johnson’s maternal grandmother is Mrs. Louise Oliver of 3314 Amy James Ave. Her paternal grandparents are Bill Johnson and Mrs. Thome vwiiuovia. Thomas Enlists In Air Force mieiiaei n. i nomas, son of Mrs. Margaret M. Tho mas of 2201 Ludlow Drive, has enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Airman Thomas, a grad uate of West Mecklenburg High School, joined under the Air Force’s Delayed Enlistment Program (Dfc,K), which allows him to accumulate time in the Air Force Reserve until he enters active duty on June 24, 1980.
