Mrs. Gail Feaster (tht bride's sister) and her hus band, Earl Feaster wit ,-nessed the exchange o vows. A reception was held a the home of Mr. and Mrs I John Wilson ior 100 guests. Mrs. Hoover was grad uated from Olympic High ' School. Mr. Hoover was a Hard ing High School graduate; he recently completed a tour of active army duty 'and is now enrolled at Central Piedmont Com munity College where he’s , studying air conditioning and refrigeration. The couple is planning a F weekend honeymoon trip to Atlanta, Ga. Attorney for the West ern District of North Caro lina, resulted in an under cover investigation in the Charlotte, North Carolina area by the Norfolk Dis trict Office of the Federal Communications Commis sion of the sale of illegal CB radio linear amplifiers and other modified CB radio equipment. This investigation result ed in the criminal prosecu tion of Mr. Charles Groner of Groner Sales Company, Lusica, North Carolina. Mr. Groner entered a plea of guilty to the charge of selling an external radio frequency power amplifier, a violation of the Com munications Act of 1934, as amended. Some of the CB equipment had been modi fied to operate on U.S. Government frequencies used by the military and other agencies. J.J. Freeman, Engineer in Charge of the FCC’s Norfolk District office, said that the forfeited equip ment, if sold, would have caused widespread inter ference to television re ception and various other electronic home equipment such as hi-fi’s, FM tuners, AM broadcast receivers and intercom systems. CB linears have even caused interference to telephones and pacemakers used by heart patients. In addition to a cash fine, Groner forfeited all illegal CB radio equipment seized by the U.S. Marshalls. The forfeited equipment was valued at more than (20,000. Mr. Freeman asked that anyone who has informa tion about the sale of CB linears in North Carolina to send the name and address YWCA Softball League Opens New Season The YWCA summer soft ball league will begin its season Thursday, June 1#. Attire for the bride was an ivory, high collared, pleated gown with bodice of Old French lace. The leg-of -mutton sleeves were pleat ed and tapered at the wrists. The veil was finger tip tenth and decorated with Old French lace and pearls. Her bouquet was made of yellow roses, car nations, and baby’s breath. Matron of Honor was Mrs. Cecelia Foster and Ms. Lillie Platts was the Maid of Honor. Both wore yellow spaghetti-strapped gowns with matching jack ets, They carried two long stemmed yellow roses. Bridesmaids included Ms. Sonya Davidson of Maryland, sister of the bride, Ms. Marva Kimble, also sister of the bride, Ms. Shirley Harris, and Ms. Vivian Little. All wore yel low spaghetti-strapped gowns with matching jack ets and carried one long stemmed yellow rose. The flower girl was Miss Jonique Platts, goldchild of the bride. The ring bearer was master Duane Austin, cousin of the bride. Best man was Walter Hunter. Ushers were Leroy Foster, Clarence Hicks, of Minnesota, brother of the groom, John Hicks, of Vir MRS. The bride is a graduate of Myers Park High School and received her B.S. in English, at A&T State Uni versity; she completed her Master's of Education at Winthroo College. She is employed as a Media Spe cialist at Independence High School. The groom is a graduate of Dillard High School in Goldsboro, received his B S. degree in health and physical education from A&T State University, and his master's of Education at Bowling Green State University. He is employed as a football and track coach at Ridgeway High School in Memphis, Tenn. The reception was held in Second Calvary’s fellow ship hall. The couples will reside in Memphis, Tenn BATCH Juniors Increase Record me BAiLH juniors in creased their won-loss re cord to 3-1 with a 7-2 win over the Kimberly Park Smokers of Winston-Salem recently. They are second in the conference behind league leading Durham who has a 3-0 record. BATCH is 2-1 in the con ference with the only loss coming at the hands of Norfolk. Conclave In Charlotte tiy leresa Burns Post Staff Writer Squaws, Inc., a civic, cultural and social minded group of women from 16 focal points of the country, will hold their Biennial Conclave at the Radisson Hotel in Charlotte July 16 through Julv 20 The group has chapters in Philadelphia. Detroit, Benton Harbor, Toledo. Cleveland, Charlotte, Dur ham, Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington, Houston, At lanta, and Springfield. The founding chapter members are in Pittsburgh. The first name back in the early 50's was "The Midnighters." They jokingly referred to themselves as the Mid nighters because family re sponsibilities and child rearing demanded them to meet late in the evenings. As time passed and the members' children became older, the group decided to formally organize and the name Squaws was chosen. By early I960 the Pitts burgh chapter had grown in number to 20. Two chapters were add ed in Philadelphia in 1964 and Detroit in 1967. Char lotte was one of three, including Toledo and Cleveland to join in 1970. Squaw June Richards con tacted Lillian Alexander of Charlotte in reference to the incorporation and the local group became the first Southern point in November. 1970. Detroit was the sponsoring chapter and Bettye McLaurin be came the first local presi dent. Today, Mrs. McLaurin is the National President, re elected for another term.
