Galilee Baptist Church Honors Three OI God’s Instruments Of Peace

Three of God's instru
ments of peace were
honored at Galilee Baptist
Church recently
There are two mothers of
the church because both
are so close in age. Mrs.
Laura Walker and Mrs.
Anna Allen and of qpurse

tist Church and has been a
member for 59 years and

- began the building fund,
I she was the first to contri
. bute to it with the last
l paycheck of her labor.
Today the entire church
worships in the hew build
ing which is three years
old.
Mrs. Walker keeps the
date of the beginning of the
building fund at heart and
each year contributes $100
from her fixed income. She
- also contributed another
• $100 to the Men's Twelve
Tribes Program and other
; assessments.
The Bible states in Mark
12:42-44, “But one poor
widow came and put in two
mites, that is one-quarter
of a cent. Summoning His
disciples, He told them, ‘I
assure you that this poor
widow has put in more than
all those contributing to the
treasury; for they all con
tributed from their surplus
but she out of her poverty
- gave all she had - her whole
! living’."
• Mrs. Allen is the second
oldest member of the

- years. At 85 Mrs. Allen

' fund drives and is noted,
along with Mrs. Walker as

largest single service in the
church’s history for 1981.

receive special honors.

Weeping Willow will hold
its annual Christmas pro
gram Sunday, December
20, at 6 p.m. This program
will include songs, read
ings, recitations and a

that this year's program
will be one of the best ever.

this program but donations
will be taken up. Proceeds
will be used for scholar
ships for eligible candi
dates in the Kirkpatrick
family.

The New East Stonewall
AME Zion Church recently
held their annual Church
rally. Alice Tinseley re
ceived a crown and was
named “Woman of the
Year.”
The first runner-up was
Lelia Drakeford. The
second runner-up, Letee B.
Stinson.

the rally. Walter Holmes
received this title while the
first runner-up was Will
Moore. Second runner-up

team raised the most

came in second place.

their annual Christmas

member of the Missionary
Baptist Church for 38 or
more years. -This senior
citizen is very humble in
her services. She is a mem
ber of Missionary Group
No. 2. She attends prayer
service on Wednesday
nights and uses her many
talents well. She sings, she
is leader, and is manager
of the Christian Singers.
