t he Charlotte Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theata Sorority, Inc. celebrated Founders' Day recently with a luncheon panel discussion at McDonald s Cafe teria on Beatties Ford Road The theme for the panel discussion was "Strategies for the Emerging Realities." Sorors from surrounding communities were invited to be guest panelists Participants and their topics were as follows: "Crime in the Black Community" by Soror Hattie Walker, Lancaster Alumnae Chapter, "Black Entrepreneurship" by Soror Sylvia Heath Renwick, Rock Hill Alum nae Chapter; "Educating Black Youth for Survival and Advancement in the SO s by Soror Anganette Homsley, Gastonia Alumnae Chapter; “Economic Security in the Black Family" by Soro Dorothy S. Johnson, Salisbury Alumnae Chapter. The program began prompt at noon with welcoming remarks from Soror Shirley G. Anderson, presdient of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter After the invocation by Soror Dorothy Stinson, a delicious lunch was served to over 100 Deltas and their guests Then there was music from the Delta Ensemble, fol towed by the introduction of the panel by Soror June Smith. The panel discussion, with Soror Bertha Maxwell of the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter as moder ator, was informative, and well received by the audience. The topics were timely and of great interest to everyone in attendance. A lively questions and an swer period culminated the activities of the day Soror Mamie L Brewington served as chairperson of the Founders' Day Committee „ I his Weekend Family In Perspective ; Workshop Will Be Held The Family In Perspect ive is the name of the . workshop to be held at Pentecostal Temple ; Church of God in Christ, 1401 Parkwood Avenue February 8-12. This workshop is de signed to provide profes sional expertise in the ■ areas of family' child and marriage counseling as ; well as information and workshop sessions aimed at singles, divorcees, and widowers. Each day from Monday through Friday dinner will be served with the Bishop J. H. Sherman family from 5:30-7 p.m mionymous question and * answer periods will be held . from 7-8:30 p.m. A musical presentation will be led by the Radio Choir and the J. H Sherman Ensemble of '• the Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ. A special guest speaker each night will deliver a word from the Lord at 9 p.m. Dr. George McKinney of San Diego, California, is a licensed Marriage and • Family Counselor; author; and pastor of St. Stephen’s Church of God in Christ. He is a member of Who's Who in Religion; Who's Who in Black America; and is a recipient of various other honors Kegistration fee is $20 for the entire week which in cludes all meals (five full course meals)., a 30 minute i counseling session with Dr McKinney and an inform v ation packed Kegistration J Kit.
