Derrick Anderson, pastor of Bethel AME Zion Church He is presently a candi date for a Master's of Divinity at Hood Theologi cal Seminary, Livingstone College and is married to the former Margaret Ro berson of Salisbury They— have two children. Michael and Rashana. The Little Rock AME Zion Church Youth Choir, under the direction of Dr. William S, Crowder, Pro fessor of Music at Living stone College, will be in - charge of the music for the opening service Sunday at 3:30. Classes in church history and the black family will be taught Monday and Tues day from 6-6:45 p.m. The church history class will be taught by Rev. Smith Turner III Presiding Elder of the North Carolina District, of the Western North Carolina Conference of the AME Zion Church. The class on the black family will be taught by Rev. Morgan W. GREATER BETHEL AME The Missionaries of Greater Bethel AME Church present "Serenade To Spring" featuring de signs by Laverne Ellerbee Sunday, April 18 at 5 p m. at the church, 201 Grandin Road. Robyn Gool is now serving as speaker at the Spring Revival being held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2315 Fayetteville Street in Durham. The revival started April -14-and will continue tonight through Friday, April 16. Services begin each night at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Gool and his wife Marilyn have three child ren. Zion Baptist Church. C ARMEL BAPTIST For the first time in recent history there will be revival services sponsored jointly by a black and white congregation in Charlotte. The services began Easter Sunday night, April 11, in Carmel Baptist, on Carmel Road. Dr. Leon Riddick, pastor of Mt. Carmel Baptist brought the message and —the choir of thio ehureh will - lead the music. The following night, Mon day, Carmel hosted guest evangelist Dr. Manuel Scott, pastor of the Cal vary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Services will begin at 7:30 both Monday and Tuesday nights at Carmel Baptist Church. Wednesday through Fri day, Mt. Carmel Baptist will host the revival meet ing with Dr. Manuel Scott as the speaker. Dr. Don Bouldin is psator of Carmel Baptist Church. WOMEN’S AUXILIARY A Fellowship Retreat will be sponsored by the Mt. Peace Women’s Auxi liary April 17 at Gethse mane Baptist Church, Rev. GREATER CHARLOTTE COMMUNITY CHORALE This great Christian group will be presented in concert Sunday, April 18 at the Greenville Memorial AME Zion Church at 7 p.m. Greenville is located at -miw M.mtnith pFi anf^ j.. pastored by Rev. A. C. Hunnicutt. This concert is the be ginning of several engage ments of the Chorale. The singers will be performing through June 12 and they will be traveling as far South as Florida. The Chorale is an inter denominational group and performs ^variety o| music from sacred to gos pel. The April 18 concert will be free to the public. NEW ST.
