“WBTV Alive At Springiest”
will entice viewers to visit in
person the upcoming gala event,
by previewing and featuring high
lights of the celebration on various
prog^^^from^Friitoy^AprU 16
WBTV, Channel 3. The event in
question is “Springiest - An
Uptown Experience," which is
Charlotte’s salute- to spring —A
potpourri of music, art, food and
fun, “Springfest” will be held in
the area of Try on Street to Poplar
and 5th to 7th Streets from Fi i
day, April 23, through Sunday,
April 25th.
WBTV’s on-the-air salute will
begin with the Friday, April 16th
edition of “Those Were The Years"
at 11:30 p.m. WHie McKay will
present a 50’s “soc hop” as a
preview of the WBTV Street Dance
which takes place the following
Friday.
Beginning Monday, April 19, and
1 continuing throughout the week,
’ "This Morning” hosts Jim Patter
son and Bob Taylor will feature a
series of guests who are connected
with “Springfest.” Monday’s
guests will be the organizers of
“Springfest,” President Koni
Kirschman and Vice-President
Cyndee Gibson. On Tuesday, Anna
Bossier, Visual Arts Chairman, -
and one of the artists whose works
will be displayed, will talk about
their group’s participation. Wed
, nesday's guests will be Gretchin
Sheets, Chairman of “Spring
fest’s” Special Events Committee
and representatives of the School
<*f Performing Arts and Discovery
Place. On Thursday, Marilyn
Henson of the “Taste of Char
lotte” committee will bring along a
chef from one of the restaurants
that will have booths at “Spring
fest.” And, Friday, Entertainment
Chairman Carolyn Branan will
present one of the performers for
the event.

forward to “Springfest” during the
week of April 19th. Monday, Lynne
Bradley will be joined by some of'
Charlotte’s best known and most
talented “shaggers,” who will
- tomb heroct the ^tewers how to
“shag.” On Tuesday, Korn Kirsch
man and Cyndee Gibson will give
an update on “Springfest” ac
tivities, and Lynne and the “shag
gers” will continue their lessons.
Thursday’s guest will be Greg
Eames from the local magician’s
—group, “Your Main Ingredient,”
who’ll give a sneak preview of the
acts he’ll be performing at
“Springfest.” On Friday, Barbara
Stutts will find out about some of
the food available at "Spring
test's” “A Taste of Charlotte,’’and
“Top O’The Day” will visit the
Performance Place, take a tour of'
the activities going on uptown and
kick at '"The Fantastic Shakers” In' "
action.
Also on Friday, April 23, WBTV’s
6 O’clock News will visit the
WBTV Street Dance, as Mike
- McKay presents ‘‘Backstage” and
his “Weather” feature live from
the site.
Friday show, at 7:30 p.m. from the
WBTV Street Dance, as well with
Bob Lacey and Moira Quinn join
ing the fun. And, at II :30 p.m. Mike
Me Key will report back from tbe
WBTV Street Dance on “Those

Fantastic Shaken” as they per
form at tbe WBTV Street Dance.
“Tbe Fantastic Shaken” consist

singers and the “Happy Days
