Kev. Goodman Ofz iates Happy Manglement Of Hearts . REFRESHING TIMES... People should be guarded - against the temptation of criminal pleasures by fur nishing them the means of innocent ooes. In every community there must be pleasures, relaxations, and means of agreeable excite ment. Man was made to enjoy, as well as labor, and the state of society should be adapted to this principle of human nature. The Christinas holiday is one means this society has of Adapting the urincinle of laboring and enjoying. The Christmas holidays are gone now, though. Those fleeting moments of cor diality of the heart have been sacredly ushered into the hall of memory. The hallowed chambers of memory far some Char lotte folk were filled with... LOVE YESTERDAY. TODAY A TOMORROW... Love is the purification of the heart from self; It strengthens and ennobles the character, gives a high motive and a nobler aim to every action of life, and makes both man and woman strong, noble and courageous. The strength of Keith Johnson’s and Joni Wade’s love for each other blos somed with genuineness when it (the -love) was nuptially bound, December 24 at S p.m. Reverend George Good man officiated a happy minglement of hearts at C. N. Jenkins United Pres byterian Church on States ville Avenue. The wed ding’s entertainment was provided by Rodney Neal and Panay-Richardson . The maid of- honor was . Anita Wade, sister of the beautiful bride. Brides maids were LaTtanya Whit —WITH BOB JOHNSON — - . ... Bob ley. Pansy Johnson Rich ardson, and Doris Faulk ner. The hostesses were Dean Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Erica Richard son, and April Wade. Con rad Miller was the best man. Johnny Johnson, William Johnson and Thomas McQueen were the ushers. Ledale Richard son and Lament Wiley were the hosts. Malcolm Wade was the ring bearer And Chikina Wade was die flower girl. The after wedding party was held at Ronald John son’s home. There, every • one came together in a very relaxed atmosphere to enhance further the events of the day. The welcomed pleasure of Camille Johnson, Keith’s aunt from New York, highlighted a week end that stole a sparkle of fire from heaven. DECEMBER DE LIGHTS..Pleasure is to man what the sun is to the flower; if moderately en joyed, it beautifies, re freshes, and improves, but it immoderately enjoyed, it withers, deteriorates and destroys. There were some parties given for December births that created the kind of amusement that makes, moderation seem like the The Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Charlotte, Inc. 2820 Sooth Boulevard Charlotte, N.C. 28224 wicked witch of the west. To begin with Oddi Ro binson, born December 26, hosted a party at Mike Cotton’s Midway Lounge, December 23, that all but caved the roof in with enjoyment. Secondly, Gloria Tatum, 'born De cember 27, was the guest of honor at a December 28 party held at the Midway Lounge. December 28 was on a Wednesday and Wed nesday is-Midway’s “Old Gold” night. Nothing dse needs to be said, however, Marion PaulingB poured kerosene on a blazing fire with a heavy mixture of tunes that were popular when times were better. The next event put a brick on one side of the mode ration scale, and it tilted right on into the New Year. Gwen McCullough, born December 13, Chuck Mason, born December 27, and Vera Williams, born December 28, collaborated -with Odell and Gloria for a party they titled “Decem ber Throw Down." The time billed for this party was 9 p.m. until.... yet, it really was an after hours affair. All of their many guests left Charlotte around 1 a.m., after their neighborhood bars bad closed, and hurried down 521 to the United Rubber Worker’s Lodge 850. The '. lodge is located right across the state line in South Carolina. The first outsider that spoke to the 300 odd guests was the sun. 1 Moderate pleasure had two chanced af. surviving at these parties - slim and none. ■ :.PAR BUSTER'S CELE BRATE... Most art* require long study and apptffethn. but the most useful art oi all, that of pleasing, re quires only the desire. The Par Baler’s Golf Group really did a tremen dous job in pleasing its members and guests at the tenth annual New Year’s Eve Party.
