i^nurcn rses ttnefi By Teresa Simmoot Poet Staff Writer The senior citizens hon ored for the months of January and February, respectively, at University Park Baptist Church in clude LoU Covington, Sr. and Ceola Anderson. LoU Covington is a tire less and dedicated servant of God. He is formerly a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He was educated In the Anson Public Schools and he spent one year at A&T State University before moving to Charlotte in 1M8. The foUowing are some of his works as a Chris tian: Sunday School teach er, the Deacon Board for over 18 years, Chairman of the Trustee Board, the Finance Committee, church treasurer, member of the Day Care Board and Boy Scout committeeman. He was also extremely in strumental in handling the church's affairs following the destruction of the edi fice, Mt. Olivet Church, by fire. He has served his coun try in the armed forces in ' world War n. Presently, he is happily married and the father of two children. This month, Ceola Ander son is senior citizen. She was born and educated in Georgia and became a Christian at an early age. She was an active mem ber of the new Ford Bap tist Church and a mem ber of the. Youth Choir, Prayer Meeting Sessions ‘ and Sunday School In 1960, she moved to Charlotte with her family and Joined New Hope Baptist Church where she served her church well. She has been a. member of University Park Baptist Church since 1990. Sfe has continued to . commit'her self to Christian work by teaching Sunday School. She is a radio ministry listener when she is not at night service and she be lieves in calling and visit ing the sick. She is a strong believer in God, His Word and the power of .prayer. Mrs . Anderson is the mo ther of nine children and is married to Leroy Abder son, Sr. Rev. James Palmer, pastor of University Park Baptist Church, has de clared February 12 as Shakeeka Richardson Day. A special offering Will be taken up and ftWwarded to the Richardson Fund for Ibe little child’s liver trans plant expenses. The church js located on the corner of Senior Drive and Kelly Street. NEW JONESVILLE . New Jonesville AME Zion Church will present a Fashion and Talent Show Sunday, February 26, at 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Center.
