INDUSTRIAL & TRADE
ADVERTISEMENT FOR PROPOSALS
The City of Charlotte as part of their development
at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport requires
the removal of three (3) older buildings from their
present locations. Any interested party is invited to
submit a proposal to remove said buildings in their
entirety to the foundations. If the successful
proposer wishes to reuse the building on other than
airport property, then no additional information is
to be submitted with the proposal, but in the event
that the building is to be reused elsewhere on
airport property, then the proposal is to indude the—
intended use and a description for upgrading the
structures to conform to the environment of their
* intended location.
The proposal is to include the compensation to the
City to dismantle and remove the building com
pletely to the slab and foundation. Title of the
components of the buildings will revert to the
successful proposer. The following insurance cover
age will be required:
1. Workmen’s Compensation and Employer’s
Liability Insurance affording (a) protection under
the Workmen’s Compensation Law of the State in
which the work is performed, and (b) Employer’s
Liability Protection subject to a minimum limit of
$100,000.00.
2. Comprehensive General Liability Insurance
including XCU coverages in amount not less than:
$5,000,000.oo - per occurrence
3. Comprehensive Auto Liability Covering Owned,
Hired and Non-owned Vehicles.
$5,000,000.00 - per occurrence
Certificates of insurance shall be provided by the
contractor prior to commencement of work certify
ing coverages as specified and shall include a
clause obligating the insurer to give to the owner
and engineers ten (10) days prior written notice of
cancellation of any material change in the insur
ance.
The buildings are constructed of structural steel
with metal siding. The buildings can be inspected
during normal working hours, Monday through

The City-County Purchasing Director will receive
sealed bids for the construction of Coulwood Park
Entrance Road until 10:00 a.m. on the 4th day of
April 1984 in the City-Country Purchasing Depart
ment’s Conference Room, City Hall Annex, 800 East
Trade Street, Charlotte, North Carolina at which
time and place Bids will be opened and read aloud.
Bids will be taken for the general work as specified
on the project plans and specifications. Proposals
must be made on standard forms furnished by the
County and must be marked, “Proposal for
Coulwood Park Entrance Road.”
Complete Drawings and Specifications may be
obtained from the Office of the Director of
Engineering, 700 North Tryon Street. A $30.00 plans
deposit is required for this project. Checks made
payable to Mecklenburg County will be accepted.
Cash will not be accepted as a plans deposit.
Deposit checks will be returned to the bidder
provided plans and specifications are returned to
the Director of Engineering in good condition within
10 days after bid opening date.
Each proposal must be accompanied by a deposit
equal to 5 percent of the net price bid. This deposit
may consist of cash, or a Cashier’s Check issued by
or a Certified Check drawn on a Bank or Trust
Company authorized to do business in North
Carolina, or a Bank insured by the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation, or a U.S. Money Order
payable to Mecklenburg County, or 5 percent BID
Bond in the form required by G.S. 143-129, issued by
any Insurance Company authorized to do business
in North Carolina, said deposit to be retained in the
event of failure of the successful bidder to execute a
formal contract within ten (10) days after award or
to give satisfactory surety as required by law.
All bidders are notified that the laws of North
Carolina, and applicable regulations of various
Licensing Boards, will be observed In receiving bids
and awarding contracts.
