They represented our conference well in the Western Regional Playoffs at Icard Ninth Caiolina.— East Forsyth stopped the Vikings 91-79 in the semifinals of the tourney at East Burke High School. The Vikings of coach Leroy Holden —finished 2?-6 and played on h*much of the latter part of the season. Some of the best games that I saw this season were played in the North Meck lenburg gym. In this game, East Burke had the beef with several of its heavy front line play ers set to attend college on football scholarships. The Vikes were shut down. Tyrone Conner, a beefy individual him, self, was not able to be contained by the Eagles and The Charlotte Post Player All-County Basketball Team member man aged to swish the nets for 30 points. Teammate Mike Gurley was held to 12 points^ Other Viking scorers were Darryl Will iams 2, Pat Baggett 8, Clarence Bryce 14, Todd Holden 5, Letura Stitt S, Rodney Sims, 2, Dpnald Bradley 4, Steve Barringer 5, and < Todd Abernathy 2. The Vikes mounted a comeback with the Eagles ahead 67-46 but it was not enough. .. Look out for the number one player on the East Mecklenburg Tennis Team. His name is Eric Abrams. Abrams is ranked num —ber 9 in the 16-and-under division of the state rankings and opened his season with a very good victory over Birn Meighan of Catholic, 6-3,1-6, 6-1. • -The baseball schedule has big games coming up Friday with East at West, West Charlotte at garinger, South at Harding, Independence at Olympic and Myers Park at North Mecklenburg.
